Last night, I went and saw the Dark Knight, it was pretty well done if I must say so,
but this brought a discussion between the wife and I.

Which Joker is best?

Heath Ledger - Dark Knight (2008)
Jack Nicholson - Batman the movie (1988)
Cesar Romero - Batman (1966)

Heath Ledger

Jack Nicholson

Cesar Romero

My summary:

Cesar Romero - The classic joker, goofy, crazy, coward and definitely a loony Joker. In my mind not only is this the classic joker but it was one of the first depitctions i have of a movie bad guy.

Jack Nicholson - This dude takes the cake for me, not only does he naturally have Joker smile buthe does the eyebrow thing, i think iconizes the joker. You know that feeling you get when you see an actor and think... wow, they couldnt have picked anyone that would be better for this character.

Heath Ledger - This dude is just EVIL, the character is a dark dark depiction of a Joker. the simple fact that he wasnt necessarily funny, more than he was dark, smart ass and just a bad guy makes him a favorite villain of mine, not the best joker in my eyes but definitely a good candidate for the most evil movie character

Your opinions??

Romero is WAY too campy for me......damn

Jack is I think the best interpretation of the Joker everybody knows from the comics. However still a little too campy at times.

Ledger takes the cake for me. I've always wanted a comic book movie that was a tad more realistic, and serious. Ledger's Joker is a outstanding interpretation of the darker Joker from the comic The Killing Joke. I just love the edge Ledger brought to the Joker.

He just wanted his phone call.

yeah someone put it best for me before i watched the movie:

Its like what the storyu would be like if it were to happen in this day and age. a typical "today" villain
I just like the fact that they actually made the movie as dark as it should have been.. some of the best Batman comics are the darkest ones. and I think people get caught up too much on the TV series and dont really make an attempt at seeing the side of the story that comic book readers get. Just my opinion.

lol the stories about his scars were pretty damn good too

Oh Ledgars joker wins by a mile.

Nolan and him really got the Jokers character exactly as he was in the comic books.
