Has anyone seen that he has taken over the Senate today? He's been filibustering the tax bill all day. He plans to continue for 30 hours taking up the entire time.

Now that's the way to filibuster.

Go Bernie :clap

Gotta admire the man for standing on his convictions. He only lasted 7 1/2 hours. I guess he was expecting backup from his spineless colleagues.

He did get help from 2 senators early on.

"You can call what I am doing today anything you want. You can call it a filibuster. You can call it a very long speech," Sanders said. "I am not here to set any great records or to make a spectacle. I am simply here today to take as long as I can to explain to the American people the fact that we have got to do a lot better than this agreement provides."

So I guess his intention was not to filibuster. And he lasted 8 1/2 hours total.

I was fortunate enough to be able to listen to 5 hours of it yesterday. I was spending most of my day driving around Philly for work and listened to it on CSPAN on XM.

Whether you agree or disagree with his politics, he was right on the mark yesterday. It's senators like him that get it,

So how many times did he mention the rich getting money from the govt?

How many times did he make it sound like there was a tax cut for the rich?

So Bernie is a hero to the left. If Ron Paul was in the senate and did the same he would be considered a nut. Oh wait the left already labeled him that. :D

Kind of humorous that the commie is holding this hostage.

If Ron Paul made sense when he talked for 8.5 hours, then I would be praising his efforts just the same. Hell, I don't care if it was a hard core Republican. It's all about the message, not the person.

And why don't you go listen to some of it before you condemn the man. Or is it just easier to call him a commie and complain about it?

So did the right.

And why don't you go listen to some of it before you condemn the man. Or is it just easier to call him a commie and complain about it?
I wish I had the time. I doubt I'd agree with half (the how-to-resolve-the-problem half), but it would be good exercise.

He's a socialist. And I didn't mean he's a Dem, he's what's known as a social democrat, it's a form of socialism, socialism-lite if you will, designed as a compromise to try and soften the inherent evils of capitalism.

Social Democrats believe in a capitalist framework with govt regulations, high taxation for the wealthy to pay for social programmes that help to temper the flaws the of capitalism. They believe in the role of government is to represent the working and middle classes and improve life for them and restrain big business, improve working conditions, raise wages, make life better. They generally believe in some nationalised services and some privatised ones.

Social democracy is the only form of capitalism that represents the majority of society's needs.
