What do you think about the way our world puts a face value on people? Whether it be celebrities or night life. I think it just boosts one ego and when it all comes down to it your just another person in the crowd when the cameras or spotlights aren't on you. I think we as a society put too much emphasis on it.

I agree. There are regular people out there who do really great things and we never hear about them. A celebrity farts and it makes the news.

Tho, I will say it tickled the crap out of my mom when she realized she was classified as a VIP at the hotel we used to spend every weekend in at Palm Springs when I was a kid.... :cool She thought it was cool to be recognized for all the money she spent there. Me? I just thought it was cool that I got off from school at lunchtime on Fridays to go and hang out a a cool place for the weekend.

Alas, PBBB will never know what that's like.. :cool Reality kid. You're growing up in reality.:thumbup Makes the crash into adulthood much less painful :24:

Celebrities. Who gives a flip....

There was a time when being a celebrity actually meant something, you were well known because you had actually done something whether it be the best at your sport, a great actor or musician, now it's meaningless. People are considered celebrities if they go on a reality show, show that they are completely thick, have no social skills and act like whores.

Andy Warhol's axiom coming to pass: "In the future, everyone will be world-famous for 15 minutes."

The Hilton sisters and now the Kardashians are perfect examples, famous for being...famous.

The shows like Big Brother are a major contributor to this. When they come out they are on shows like This Morning etc talking about being famous. There's a big difference between being famous and being a Celebrity. I mean I could appear in my local paper for something, but am I a Celebrity? Hell no. The problem is the media and the BB people not being able to differentiate between being famous and being a Celebrity.

I agree. It's the same way with shows like The hill and shit here. these little MTV dramas showing real life people in real life drama scenerios. These people aren't celebrities just because the camera is on them.
