Anyone use ING or Charles Schwab for banking?

I'm at my wit's end with my current bank (Chase) and am looking to make a move. I will not use Compass/BVA or whatever it might be called where you live. I also am not interested in using a Credit Union again. Been there, done that.

Just curious as to what other's experiences are with banks. I've considered Wells Fargo, since that's the company my school uses for loans and stuff, so I could get my loan money faster, but if they have shit customer service, I'm not really interested.

i bailed from chase to wells fargo about 18 months ago. chase was bouncing my card transactions all over the place and it was costing me a fortune in service fees.

their machines were allowing transactions on insufficient funds and then charging me for it rather than just declining the transaction. haven't bounced a thing with wells fargo.

between the online banking and 24 hour phone-in service line, i think you'll be satisfied. they're certainly no worse than any other bank. some of my friends recommend getting away from the big banks altogether and bank at smaller local banks or credit unions.

I have had very good luck with PNC
They have a great website and because I have direct deposit the account is free.
There current savings rate is 1%, it was 2.5% before the crash/mess.

The thing I like most is the Virtual wallet. It splits my account into three accounts. Spending account, reserve account and the savings account. You see exactly how much is in each account and can move money between the accounts as easy as moving a slider on the website. I have it set so that every friday when my check is deposited, $90 moves over to my savings. Plus whenever I'm on the site I can "punch the pig" click on the piggy bank and an extra amount goes into savings. I have it set to $5 a punch.
Having the spend and reserve account is very usefull. I may have $1000 in the bank but because only $600 is in the spend account, that's all that shows up as available. But If I made a purchase of $650, the reserve is automatically tapped so there is no overage... It's a nice place to "hide" your money so it gives you the allusion of not having the money to spend, which makes me spend less.
Plus they have free bill pay.

I almost forgot... If I use my bank card at an ATM which charges me a fee, my bank will reimburse those funds to my account. So I don't care where I get my money from anymore. $5 fee for using your stupid machine :dunno who cares, I'll get it back. :D

THAT is one of the biggest things. Chase charged two dollars simply for CHECKING the balance of an account to be sure it wasn't overdrafted. That's insane. I know that there are mobile and online places to check that, but sometimes you can't use your phone or don't have access to the internet. Just seems absurd to me.
