Pine Bluff Police are investigating how a nine-month-old baby was severely injured.
When the baby arrived at Jefferson Regional Medical Center Thursday evening, the child had no pulse or blood pressure. Emergency room staff managed to revive the baby and he was airlifted to Arkansas Children's Hospital where he remains in critical condition.
Hospital staff told police the baby had bruises around both eyes, bite marks on his face and arm, stratches and a skull fracture.
Police say neighbors had been caring for the child when the mother's boyfriend arrived to pick up the baby. Officers say the boyfriend claims he fed the baby and left him in his crib. The man says the baby was later found limp.
Investigators are now talking to neighbors at the Executive Inn on East Harding Street, where the couple was living. Police say it remains unclear how the child was injured. No charges have been filed in the case.
