Will you stand in line for an autograph of a sports or TV or movie star?

Will you pay for an autograph?

I took my kids to a few Fan Days at Auburn University where they got autographs of the football players, the cheerleaders and of course Aubie.

I have noticed a trend at special events they will bring in quasi-celebrities and people will literally stand in line for hours to greet and get an autograph.

Are you likely to get in line or avoid the line?

No. I have no interest in that sort of thing.

The ONLY reason I would get an autograph would be to sell it onto ebay.

Yep, I've stood in lines for four or five hours for autographs at comic and pop culture conventions.

Swamp People's Troy Landry and his son are often here at different places for grand openings or something special signing autographs and getting pictures taken. They were recently at a grand opening that we went to. NEVER AGAIN!! it was so packed that they were having to have people park a good mile away and having to shuttle them back and forth to their cars and to the place! autograph and meeting them!? when you get to the door, you're given a ticket. they would call so many ticket numbers for their chance to get their autograph and picture. it wasnt standing in line waiting your turn. it was sitting around ALL DAY waiting for your number to be called! and it wasnt in any particular order. it started at 10 and was suppose to be over at 1! they were still busing people in well past 1!! it was INSANE!! i went because of the sales they were having on the things they sold, getting an autograph and picture was just an added bonus. there was no way i was waiting around to do that!

They have tons of exhibits and guns & knives & foods & different guide services peddling their wares. There was a line that meandered through the show and out the door of the civic center to meet the "Swamp People". I did not even know who they were at the time. I saw a lot of people wearing "Choot'em" T-shirts.

places like that and the place where we were (a gardening, boat, country, etc type store) are understandable for that kind of 'celebrity appearance'. a couple weekends ago, Verizon opened a new store here in my town. a very small store at that. they had Swamp People come for the grand opening. not sure who from the show came, but i made sure i was no wear near town for it! i saw how packed at the other place was and that was in a bigger city at a big store! we're in a small town! i could only imagine what the traffic and crowds looked like!!

I wouldn't pay to meet a celebrity, nor would I que for hours upon hours and be herded like sheep just to meet someone. However, I've gone to my teams stadium (Libery stadium/Swansea City/Football) and qued to get autographs for my brother. The whole team were sat at a long table and they passed your calendar down and you could go around and have photos taken. My mother, sister and I went but it really was only to get signed calendars for my brother and nephew whilst they were in school, we then surprised them at christmas.

Also, I've been told where the Vancouver Whitecaps park during their games and if you hang around about two hours after a game they're more than willing to have a chat, take pictures and sign things which I think I'll do next time. I've only been to one game, which I won tickets for, and it just so happened that we were sat right where the players come in/out of the tunnel, so after the game I got to shake hands and say hi to a lot of them. I'm planning on getting seats in the same spot for the LA Galaxy game so I can say HI MR BECKHAM WHY YOU SO FIT?

But yeah, I wouldn't pay or go quing for them.

But saying that, I would never pay to get an autograph or stand in a queue just for one. I would never stand in a queue for an A-Z list actor/ess/celebrity

Did it once to get Tony Hawks signature when I was young.
Never cared for anyone else's signature.

Never been that interested in autographs.

I might get one if I randomly saw someone famous that I really liked and they didn't look busy. But I wouldn't stand in line or go out my way to get one. I definitely wouldn't pay.

I forgot to mention, only this week I actually did "pay" for an autograph. However, the payment was to a charity, and in return a certain author personally autographs a first edition of one of his books. For me, that's like investing in art

If he just wanted to pocket the money I wouldn't have but I don't mind putting my hand in my pocket for a bit of charity. Especially when I get a signed copy of my favorite book in return!

I stood in line for a couple of hours at the last UGA fan day. Started w/ the Defensive line and, after that, all I had time to do was wait in line to get Aaron Murray's autograph and take a photo w/ him. Worth it, though.

I will NOT pay for an autograph, though.

Pictures with the famous people are so much better anyways.

I saw multiple celebrities on my vacation, but didn't ask/bother any of them for signatures because I'd feel like a douche-bag if I bothered them on their vacation. At the end of the day, they're just people too.

I stood in line to meet someone. In the rain. For about an hour or two. It was worth it to me.

I have also been flown to Miami to meet a celebrity for dinner :tooth

Nope only gotten one autograph of a real person that I was into, an underground rapper from New Jersey and I just walked up and introduced myself. tho I was so nervous I fucked the title up of an old group record he had done back in 97.
