I was notified of this when Peter updated his facebook page. I figured I'd share the good news on here!
Aung San Suu Kyi, the democracy activist and Nobel Peace Prize winner in Burma (aka Myanmar) who was under house arrest for almost two decades has been released by the military junta. She almost became the country's leader after her party won elections years ago, but the military threw the results out.

It should be interesting to see what happens now, even though "elections" have already taken place in the country. I personally won't be surprised if the military finds some excuse to arrest her and place her under house arrest again.
