Well, I'll be darned. Go Ron Paul! It was interesting to see who voted for it (link at the site)... Perhaps some of our Reps realize we are getting ticked and so are they? Almost too much to hope for...

I'm not sure if I should actually hold my breath or not??? Either way, KewlBeans!

As much as I loathe wiki:

Federal Reserve System - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The biggest thing about them is they are not accountable to the American people. That could possibly change w/this bill??? I'll believe it when I see it. All the signers need to stay out of small planes! hehehehehehehehehehe...... or possibly they'll all be declared potential violent homegrown terrorists?:24:

OK...now I gotcha

This can only be a good thing right? IF..as you said, it actually happens.

and then if it DOES happen, you/we the people get to see the results.

If it does indeed happen, accountability will happen??? Sounds good in theory. At the very least, we are provided a list of Reps that may indeed still have our nations best interests at heart. Good to know come election time...:thumbup

A couple weeks ago I fired off an email to my rep, Ciro Rodriguez, asking why he's not on that list. He's still not on it.

I welcome the audit. I wonder how many heads will roll. :humm:

The only downside I can see is we really might not like the results...

I've read where the FR would crash the whole system rather than be held accountable. What does that say?

That's a darn good question.... I will be truly surprised if this actually gains any ground.... hehehehehehehe..... I notice my local Fox news is mum about this. It's all about Healthcare... Not surprised there...:24:

I didn't think much about the FR until I read Ron Paul's book "Revolution - A Manifesto". Then I began to understand a bit more about this organziation I never gave a second thought about.

hehehehehehehehehehe....... You know it's bad where there are articles in the WSJ (last year) talking about those w/means need to find themselves a place off the grid and stock it w/at least a years' worth of food & water & 'protection'.

But pay no attention to what's really happening. All is fine sheep. Go back to sleep. If you're not tired, make sure you argue amonst yourselves about which side is more corrupt or Patriotic...:willy_nilly:

Imagine my complete lack of shock:

Federal Reserve rejects request for public review

"The institution which creates and oversees America's currency wants to keep a "low profile," according to a published report on Monday, and may willing to dodge the U.S. Treasury in order to do so."

The Raw Story » Federal Reserve rejects request for public review

Cuz being held accountable is UnPatriotic. :24: Oh wait, the 'Terrorists' will get us if we hold them accountable. That's it! :willy_nilly:

i've heard in the past how the fed has a responsibility to the american people, but it's backwards nowadays, it seems like the people have a responsibility to the fed (go spend your money to make the economy better "how? I'm broke asshole!")

I'd like to see this passed.

I'm not sure if I should be holding my breath or not?

They've never once been audited. There is no accountability whatsoever..... What does that remind you of?

Ron Paul was on the local radio this morning. Sometimes I think he does go a bit too far even though I support most of what he is about. He said the fed is unconstitutional as was the cause for many things including the wars

Do you disagree w/that assessment?

I am not sure about either.

I never had given it much thought before as to what relation the feds would have to war nor why it would be constitutional. He did not go into any details. Probably is spelled out in detail in one of his books though

"Revolution - A Manifesto" spells it out quite nicely.

It was one of the driest books this HorrorGirl has ever read, but it was certainly an eye-opener.

No wonder the PowersThatBe want to label him a kook & a coward and his supporters as possible terrorists.

Finally got the response. How the hell long has it been??
Somebody tell me if he explains why he's not a co-sponsor. I don't see it.

October 23, 2009

Dear Mr. Accountable:

Thank you for contacting me with your support for H.R. 1207, the Federal Reserve Transparency Act of 2009. I appreciate your comments and welcome the opportunity to respond.

As you know, H.R. 1207 would repeal the authority of the Comptroller General to perform an onsite examination of an open insured bank or bank holding company only if the appropriate federal regulatory agency has consented in writing. Further, H.R. 1207 directs the Comptroller General to complete, before the end of 2010, an audit of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System and of the Federal Reserve banks, followed by a detailed report to Congress.

The Federal Reserve plays an integral role in shaping monetary policy, providing guidance for sound banking practices and laying the framework for a healthy economy. It is intended to be a stabilizing force in an uneven market and I believe that it will continue to function as a central component of an improving economy. While I understand that certain information can undermine investor confidence in the institutions that are receiving aid from the Federal Reserve, and potentially lead to destabilizing runs on banks, I believe it is important to know how the Federal Reserve is using its funding facilities and to make sure that we are using all funding in appropriate and efficient ways.

I thank you again for sending me your thoughts on this important topic. Should you have any further questions or concerns regarding this or other federal issues, please do not hesitate to contact my office.

Sincerely,

Ciro D. Rodriguez
Member of Congress
