I downloaded a free photo editing program and it came with the ask toolbar. I really needed the program so I said "Oh well I can uninstall ask later"

WRONG

How do I get this shit off my computer? If I type something in my address bar in Firefox, ask.com comes up.

It changed your default search engine - you'll have to go int the Firefox config menu to change it back.

Or, can you find it in the add or remove programs list in Windows?

I already uninstalled the program and the add-on and I have clicked on every option I can find in Firefox, but if you have a specific suggestion tell me what to do!

Never download such strange toolbars. They can create havoc.

I know! I know better but I was DESPERATE at the time...

DAMNIT! I knew better!

type about:config into the address bar of Firefox

you'll get a warning, click that you'll be careful

in the filter box type keyword.URL and tell me what it says

right-click on the line and choose Modify from the popup menu
replace the value with this if you want the Google search function back - copy just the link, not the < > on the ends

Ok, so you got it :)
