He was never a conservative.

He crossed the aisle enough that he has been a republican in name only the same as Snowe and a couple others in the northeast.

I actually like Spector, he's my senator here in PA. I would much rather have a moderate anything over a Left wing or right wing nut job. I like when they play both sides of the isle. I don't think it matters one bit if he is Dem or Rep... well, only for his reelection bid :D

I am fed up with career guys like him. I do not trust him for a second but then he is the architect of the single bullet theory that the Warren Commission relied on. Makes one wonder if all this a coincidence or not when guys like this get settled in to positions of power.

So much for party loyalty. He had to go where the flow fit best. Go figure?

He didn't leave the party as much as the party left him...

The republican party is falling apart at the seams... they are moving so radically right, they are loosing a lot of the moderate republicans.
There was a mass exodus with voters and only 25% of the population are registered as republicans with only 35% happy with the party... Pretty bad numbers no matter how you slice it up.

The religious right ruined the reps

We need something to restore things though from the madness of Obama.

If you think we are on the right path by creating beyond massive debt then we have little we can agree on.

You see it as madness, I see it as much needed restructuring...

I will go into debt replacing all the windows in my house if I know that by replacing them will save me money in heating and cooling over the years. You need to invest money to correct the things that are broken and build for the future. It's a real shame that previous presidents didn't make the tough choices to fix the things we have neglected as a nation for far too long. Our health care system is an absolute fucking mess, the apidimy of waste an inefficiency. Our infrastructure is approaching that of a third world nation.

Whether you agree with Obama's policies or not, we need to fix a shit load of problems in this country. There are many things that need to be rebuilt and you have to spend money to do it.

It doesn't matter how much you spend as long as you can grow the economy enough to cover it. Our debt means nothing if the economy grows to match.

Bush has spent more than Obama so far and we got NOTHING for it. AND the economy shrunk, so his debt is FAR worse than what's going on right now. Just go back and look at history and every Republican has spent like a drunken sailor with NOTHING to show for it. It all started with Reagan.......

Your analogy of the windows sucks:D
When you put in the windows you have every intention and so did the installer that eventually those windows will be paid for. You are living in a dream world if you think we can grow out of this mess and repay all that money. It is impossible. Hell we can not even come close to covering SS let alone for all this bullshit liberal crap Obama wants.

A better example is that you need a new car. So instead you bought a million dollar yacht even though you make minimum wage. You got away with the loan because your fake uncle who is also broke falsified the loan he co signed in order for you to get the boat. Then you set out on a trip across the ocean and forgot to put the plug back in the boat. In the middle of the ocean the boat is going to sink. Nobody will be around to see it.

Bush did tons to help his poor contractor friends enrich themselves at the expense of the American public with no-bid, cost plus war driven contracts. Bush and Cheney are crooks and their policies are responsible for hundreds of thousands of unwarranted deaths, but I'm not holding my breath for justice to prevail. Maybe they will get to answer to their God if they have one.

Except while we don't see the individual boats sink and the fake uncle gets off scott free, we are seeing the overall results of this mess.
