Are you closer to your friends, than you are to your family?

I ask, because I find myself more comfortable around my friends then I am my own family. My friends 'know' me where as I feel completely out of place around my mother, father and sister.

Like for instance I'll go around the house like a mad hatter dusting and cleaning before my mother or sister come over as I feel very judged by them...where as, with my friends, they can pop over any time and its quite comfortable for me to just say ,'yeah watch your step for Lego's and toys.":nod:

I feel like I am with strangers when I am around my mother father and sister. It feels very awkward and extremely stressful.:ninja

I think I feel "different" around friends than family, not better or worse, or more special.

I have a different emotional tie to a friend than a family member, personally I could care less what a casual friend thinks about what I drive, wear, my home etc.

I have a few lifelong friends that to me are basically family, but beyond that I make sure to make my family feel comfortable, and loved. Friends I high five and chest bump after a 12 pack

It's a little different. For me at least.

Thats a good question.

I feel like I can be myself and not worry about what I say or do in front of my friends as to where if Im around my parents and family I have to make sure I mind my P's and Q's....(like no swearing, no drinking any alcohol, etc)

I know my family doesnt judge me but I always like to make sure I always do my best for my family, like I dont want to let them down.

Difficult one. I would say family comes before friends but I can talk to my really good friends and get on with them better than my family.

I have different relationships with my friends than I do my family... For instance, my friends and I can chat n bitch about things that I would not talk to my parents about (ex. relationship issues). I learned awhile ago, unless the problem with my SO is a big one, it's better left alone of my mom will remind me of it 1,000 times after the issue is settled...

I think so...:nod:... I've got friends I've had since I was a little girl and we argue sometimes but we always come back to each other eventually...I think it depends on how mature a person is in how they relate to others and how much forgiveness you have in your own heart.

same goes for family... you just have to look at the numbers of abused kids who eventually get back in touch with their abusive parents.

It just all depends on how and who you are dealing with:nod: I suppose.

I'm very close to my mom...she knows almost all my secrets. Only a few friends know things she doesn't know (my bestfriends, of course). All my friends love my mom, too...I even had one reveal something to her one time that made me want to crawl under a rock. Can you imagine having a friend discuss *ahem* the endowment of someone your mother KNOWS that you have slept with w/ her??? Yeah...I wanted to be anywhere but there. LOL

To clarify, this friend of mine saw said endowment for herself due to some sauna nakedness at a party a few nights beforehand.
