I just read the stupidest comment about someone taking their kids to Mcd's Playplace.... some commented with wash there hands because of alll the germs there. Let kids be fucking kids. We never worried about such nonsense growing up. Unless I was filthy...

I only wash Liam's hands if they are dirty or before he eats.. I usually don't worry about germs Unless someone is sick around him.

I think exposure to germs is important. I'm not nasty or anything like that, but I don't over sanitize or anything like that. How are you supposed to build immunity if you don't have any exposure?

Errrm....I don't think I am but I do wash my hands after I finish on the toilet, before I eat meals and when they are dirty. I just consider that standard behaviour.

not at all! i wash Jace's hands if they are filthy from playing outside. he's good about keeping his hands washed.

i dont flip out about buggies at the grocery store being nasty, i dont use my foot to flush toilets in public bathrooms. its no biggie

BUT playplaces like that.....ICK ICK ICK!! me and a friend have a nickname for Chuck E Cheese...."Dirty Mouse House" LoL i REFUSE to go to CEC. i will not step foot into one and i refuse to bring Jace to one. Playplaces at fastfood places....um thats the whole point of FAST FOOD!! you drive thru and GO!! if i want to go somewhere and sit down to eat, imma go to a GOOD place to eat! not a drivethru fast food place! LOL

Those play places are filled with nasty stuff. It's one thing to let a kid go and not worry about it, but with a lot of parents today they let their kids run around with snot dripping off their faces and everything. There's nothing at all wrong about making sure to clean em up after playing in one of those places.

So IMHO that is not the dumbest comment ever.

I'm not a germaphobe, but I do wash my hands frequently (best way to prevent the spread of illnesses, btw) and use a paper towel to turn the faucet and open the door of a public restroom.

Yup :nod::nod::nod:

There are ways to avoid getting the cold and flu

When anybody would get sick around me as of late I would make an effort to wash stuff they came in contact with. So far it has worked for me.

A couple things that I never gave a lot of thought to were hotels until a cousin told me of his phobias

Phones and mattress covers in hotels :ninja:eek

I totally agree  with everyone who mentioned hand washing is basic to prevention of the spread of diseases and i think we got nothing to lose if we practice it regularly :)

Mc D was involved in a near lawsuit ( dunno if it pursued) sometime ago when a kid had poop leaked out of his dappy and was smeared all over by other kids in the Playplace esp in the ball pit. This was a big story re: Mc D Playplace and hence that comment re: hand washing. Just an FYI of course :)

To be honest, IF my kid was involved in that poop smearing incident that time- I'll follow your comment about cleaning behind his ears :yuk

That isn't my only concern in a hotel or motel. Mrs.Guyzerr was a chambermaid for a while and she informed me you might be sleeping on washed sheets but the blankets rarely get done. Think of all the nasties on those buggers. Speaking of buggers... bed bugs are becoming a real problem all over the place and even 5 star hotels are hit with 'em. Makes one want to never sleep in a bed other than their own.

I think that comment about washing is not dumb at all!!! those play things are nasty and honestly why expose your kids to getting sick when a little hand washing is so easy to do?
Preventing yourself from getting sick by washing your hands when you know you have been in a place that is especially prone to lots of yuckies from other kids isnt being a gremaphobe its being smart and creating a less of a hastle for you later then dealing with a sick kid thats up all night.
