I'm a stepdad.

I have a soon to be 20-year-old stepdaughter. I've been in her life since she was 12. I also have a 26-year-old stepson. He was around 18ish or so when I came into the picture.

Their dad passed away a few years back.

It seems like there are days for Fathers, Mothers, and even Grandparents. But even if a day exists, no one is really celebrating the stepparents.

What do you all think? Any fellow stepparents here on the forum?

I think there is a taboo regarding stepparents. They are usually labeled as "bad". I have seen some step parents in my community and some of them are really good. Interestingly, some kids also build enmity against step parents without any reasons.

It's a shame that the good stepparents don't get talked about enough. Unfortunately I think society sees stepparents in a negative light because they aren't the biological parent of the children, which that shouldn't matter. What matters is if the child or children have decent parents raising them.

I get what you mean. Stepparents often play huge roles but don’t get the same recognition as biological parents.
