Are Modern Action Movies Relying Too Much on Pre-Vis and Losing Spontaneity?

Some fans say heavy pre-visualization creates smoother scenes but less personality. Which recent action film struck the right balance? Do you prefer longer takes or faster edits? How much does choreography matter compared to camera work?

These days most action movies are nothing but visual effects and body doubles. Modern movies seem to have more gun fights compared to one on one combat. I am not much of a fan of modern action movies.
