Ideas like detachment, karma, and mindfulness emphasize balance and inner peace. Western thought often centers on progress and individuality. Is one approach healthier for society, or do both address different human needs?

I don't know much about western theories but based on my reading of eastern theories, I believe eastern theories are basically ore peace oriented. One of the reasons why India fell to foreign powers is because they were indoctrinated to the theories that basically promoted peace.

Eastern philosophies often emphasize inner peace, balance, and harmony, encouraging self-reflection and detachment from conflict. Western philosophies tend to focus on reason, rights, and social structures, which can prioritize action and debate over personal tranquility. That said, both traditions contain diverse teachings, so peace orientation depends more on interpretation than geography.

I feel both approaches serve different purposes. I notice Eastern ideas like detachment, karma, and mindfulness focus on inner balance and long term harmony, while Western emphasis on progress and individuality drives innovation and personal achievement. I think combining both can create a society that values growth without losing emotional and ethical grounding.
