While not coming right out and saying it Apple is kinda trying to satisfy customer issues by saying, here's a free case and if that doesn't work, we will as a last resort take back the phone but we still believe there is a possibility there is no issue with the phone itself..

Just hold it differently and it will resolve the problem..

My answer to that of course is certainly in line with Apple's solution is holding the phone differently by holding a different phone altogether until the problem is corrected.

As much as the iPhone is a marvel of engineering it must be debugged for the slight issue it was bound to face, but with Apple doing a head in sand approach to customer service, it is bound to only keep it's present Snapple base and not gain new grounds until it corrects the problem..

I have an iPhone 4 and the only issue I've experienced is the proximity sensor problem, which will be fixed in the next OS release. The way I hold my phone is with my finger in the spot that tends to cause the problems, and I haven't had a dropped call yet. So I'm with Jobs in that it isn't a problem with every phone. The case has been proven to solve the problem for those that have experienced it, and since a relatively few amount of people in the grand scheme of things have complained about it, I say it's a good move on their part to offer the case to everyone. They didn't bury their heads in the sand, they admitted there was an issue, and provided a fix for it.

I read somewhere that some 93% of iPhone 4 users haven't bothered to take their phones in. Perhaps some folk are just getting hung up on?

Yes Snapple friends Ed and Retro, keep believing the fact there is no Antenna problem..

Apple released a press release about who everyone else has Antenna problems ( showing Antenna locations in the phones ) and telling people how to awkwardly hold them to make the bars hopefully go down on the competition..

You can believe what you want but the fact that Apple is blaming everyone but itself and then even posts a "look at all the money we spent fixing a problem that everyone else should also have if you hold their phones that way but few if any complaint" will again not sooth any of the issues it has towards new customers.

Yes they will keep the Snapple people like Ed and Retro but will find it hard to sell new customers to switch from Android or Blackberry to gain a bigger market as fast as they thought they would..

Excuses aside this is a serious issue that Apple has failed to correct properly since the First iPhone 3G and should have never shown up in the iPhone 4.. I am sorry to say, but nothing will convince me this was not a bad blunder from the start..

I think it's a good step by Apple to offer everyone a bumper case for free, regardless of whether or not they've experienced an issue.

Question for you though... have you ever even owned an Apple product? Or does the fact that they're so popular just annoy you?

Apple products, yes..

They admitted responsibility though... they simply said that other manufacturers have had similar problems. They also said that they have received a relatively small number of complaints on this issue... which leads me to believe that it was mostly media fueled. Like I've said more than a few times, I actually own an iPhone 4 and hold my phone the way that they say would drop calls, and I haven't dropped any. So it cannot be an issue with every single phone.

I ordered my case, should be here in another week or two. But like I've said, I haven't had the issue with dropping calls either. It seems to be fairly rare to be honest.
