Senators diverted $2.6 billion in funds in a defense spending bil, including $20 million to create an educational institute named after the late Sen. Edward M. Kennedy

Mr. Wheeler said that senators took most of the cash for the projects from the "operations and maintenance" or O&M accounts. "These are the accounts that pay for troop training, repairs, spares and supplies for vehicles, weapons, ships and planes, food and fuel,"
So much for Obama's promise of no earmarks... this is just disgusting, honestly. It's obviously something happening on both sides of the aisle as well.

Mr. Inouye had a total of 35 earmarks worth more than $206 million in the final bill, and the ranking Republican on the committee, Sen. Thad Cochran of Mississippi, sponsored 48 worth $216 million.

obama signed a bill full of nothing but earmarks not long after he took office. it was nothing but a earmark bill and everyone in the house was getting on the dole for that one.

i'm pissed they all added their own earmarks, passed it with what i can only describe as arrogance and contempt for tax payers and their hard earned dollars and then obama signs it without question.

they all talk a good game during election time and the sad thing is people actually buy it. EVERY election.

CHANGE! ZOMGYESWECAN!

Okay you racist Obama haters. Stop trying to twist his exact quoted words into something he clearly didn't mean for you to remember.

Fiscal Responsibility LINK
This is the only real truth on the internet. We know this because President O says it is, and he doesn't lie. Just ask him.

For your claim about earmarks, he clearly only meant that for the economic recovery bill. He requested it to be free of earmarks, and congress obediently deleted the word wherever it appeared in the bill.

And before you bring up that tired old "I promise to go over every bill line by line" line, that was only for the budget, which hasn't even been presented to him yet, since the last one was really Bush's, being written while he was president ... so it doesn't count.

We can trust President O because he promised fiscal responsibility ... on our large entitlement programs. So just remember that in order for something to meet the definition of "large" it must necessarily be at least as large as the deficit, or the largest historical deficit, whichever is larger. But rest assured, once an entitlement program gets larger than, say, $60 trillion, you can bet your allotment check that those dollars (not to be confused with dollars merely related to them) will be spent wisely.

Once again our Troops get the short end of the stick from those that send them off to fight.

If I say any more than that a full-on rant will come out.....

Except I am so fucking tired of this shit not changing..........(

I'm totally against earmarks. Let them make speeches to the American Public why they want $20M for their pet project instead of slippin it in behind closed doors...

Gee, I about buzzed enough to go on a freaking rant.......

Here's a question for Jim (if he even reads this): Were our Troops treated like shit after WWII?

Somehow I think all this freaking shit started in Viet Nam and it has not improved one fracking bit since then.... My BIL has Leukemia. A direct result of Agent Orange in Viet Nam. He's having to battle like hell both for his life and for any compensation.....

I am tired of our politicians treating our Troops like they should have just died on the battlefield and the heck with any accountablity.... It's so freaking UnAmerican. It makes me sick. That is all....
