Anyone see this movie yet? I watched it yesterday and I thought it was pretty good. Lots of side boobs and blood, and a much appreciated lack of schlongs. Pretty good story line. The whole dialouge was subtitled. I was actually thankful for that because the movie theater I saw it in (because I totally was not watching a bootleg copy of it on my laptop ;) ) didn't have the best sound in the world.

Mel Gibson has gotten into a habit lately of making films in dead languages. Can't wait for his adaptation of Gronk vs Gronk - a Neanderthal couple breaking up & fighting over custody of the kids.

He'll probably make a film about the Vietnam war where the Americans win, next! Either that or a film about the Iraq war where WMD are found!

Well he does seem to like portraying us as pillaging, evil rapists in his films, noticably Braveheart and The Patriot. He dosen't like to let the truth get in the way of a good story!

The best bit was the Scots wearing kilts and living in Hobbit holes!:rofl2: They wouldn't have worn kilts and tartan because they were lowlanders!

Agreed!

Even if the woman she played wasn't even around in Britain in real life at the time of Walaces rebellion. She didn't marry Edward II until after he became king.

You know what, I'm of two minds on this - whether movies should be more factual or not.

Sometimes you can't let the truth get in the way of a good story & movies are a medium of escapism which means that they probably should be larger than life & not history texts.

... but there are many stories out there that if told truthfully could be every bit as thrilling as the bullshit.

Unfortunately the Americans are probably the worst at this alternate history stuff - if you watch any US WW2 war film, you would think that it was America vs the rest.

Mel's just another crackpot in a long line of film crackpots.

The problem I have with Braveheart is that I've read the true history of William Wallace and it's actually a lot more interesting than the Mel Gibson version. It was totally pointless him changing the facts because if he had stuck to the real story it would have been a much more interesting film!
