Health warning over torture film - AOL Lifestyle

AOL News said:
An ambulance trust is warning people about a horror film which contains torture scenes so gruesome they have made cinema-goers pass out.

The East Anglian Ambulance Trust said it had received a number of emergency calls to treat people watching the new horror film Saw III.

Five required ambulance assistance and one had to be taken to hospital after fainting with fright following screenings in Stevenage, Peterborough and Cambridge on Friday.

Trust spokesman Matthew Ware said: "People need to be aware this film is not for the squeamish or faint-hearted.

"As well as collapses, we have had reports of people running screaming from the cinemas.

"Every now and then a film comes along that some people find hard to stomach. Saw III appears to have sent film-goers over the edge.''

Mr Ware said the issue had a serious side and urged people to think carefully before going to see the film.

"We had to send three ambulances to Stevenage because we had three patients needing treatment at one cinema,'' he said.

"To take three ambulances out of the system on a Friday night could potentially cause problems.''

Mr Ware added: "We wouldn't want to discourage anyone from going to see this film. But if people want to see it they should be prepared and if they start to feel sick then they should leave.''

The film is the latest in the hit series following the murderous exploits of Jigsaw, played by Tobin Bell - a serial killer devoted to inventing grisly torture techniques.

Well, I just watched Saw III. Hardly an reason someone would faint or run screaming from a theatre. Sounds like a bunch of hype to me. Then again, I am pretty much immune from those gore movies.

It's kind of sad really. Actually, it's VERY sad. A 15 year old like me can handle these kinds of movies, but the adults can't. That's the type of behavior I'd expect from like, 5 year olds :D

I never said you, so stop jumping the fucking gun. I just believe it's sad and pretty pathetic that kids can handle this shit, I saw a kid who looked to be about 12 years old, and one that looked to be about 8 years old in both SAW III and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning, yet ambulances have to be called for ADULTS?! What the hell? What, are the adults that make these movies the only ones that can stomach them?

Yeah, but Hostel was supposedly supposed to be the "Scariest film in decades" and "The goriest/worst horror film in 10 years!!!" Well BULL-FUCKING-SHIT. Basically, it was a 1 hour and 30 minute porno, with less than about 30 minutes of gore and violence that I could have seen in any old-ass horror flick that would be much better than that thing. SAW III actually had gore and shit. And I don't think they'd just make up a fake story on AOL News just to get hype for a new movie. I know Darren Lynn Bousman, the director, and James Wan, one of the writers. Neither of them would make up a fake article just for that kind of amazing publicity and shit. If anything, it'll lose them money(Well, at least to some people, or the entire area of Cambridge). So why make up that kind of hype?

And yes, I do know James and Darren, I've got them, the real ones, the real official people, added on Myspace. But I'm not going to whore out their links, because I don't know if they'd like that.

honey, it's called publicity. A lot of movies do that sort of thing. It's all about the money.

So... since you have them on your MySpace page that means you know them? Dude, I understand where you are coming from. You are a Saw fanatic. Plain and simple. And that's cool. But honestly, and think about it, do you really believe that movie had people running screaming from theatres and fainting because of all the gore? I kinda doubt it. IMO it was no more gorey than the first two. I even yawned a coupld of times.
I did like how it ended though. Even though the dude died, he still got the last laugh.

On a side note - I went to see Monster House when it was released (the CG animated one out this past whenever). One little girl started screaming and freaking out when the old geezer man got right up in the frame while he was screaming at the child in first person view. The family had to leave. I felt bad for her.

Just my experience with something "scary" at the theaters frightening someone enough that they had to leave.

So talking to them on a regular basis doesn't qualify as knowing them?

Just because other people fake publicity stunts like this doesn't mean they would. There are already 79,990 people that are fans of the movie, I think that's a lot of publicity. And that's just on one SAW forum.

Well, usually it isn't considered "knowing" someone until you meet them in person. But, this is the Internet age, so I guess the rules have changed a bit.
79,990 fans of the movie... 6 billion people in the world. They have a little ways to go. And where are the reports from other states and other cities of people fainting and running screaming from the theatre? Surely if it happened in one theatre then it must have happened in many more as well.
Look, like I said before, I realize that you are a fanatic about these movies. And that's cool. And you are still very young and impressionable. One day you will learn that you can't believe everything that you hear or read.

Fact is, when it comes to horror, blodd/gore .. whatever, there is always going tobe someone who can't handle it..

So someone went and saw a movie they couldn't handle, or maybe they were already sick, or maybe it was a pregnant chick ( ya never know what will affect them).. .. or who the hell knows, Maybe it was just somebody hoping they could collect on the profits.

I think more was made of it then need be.. But no matter how or why it happened, it is still publicity, and any publicity is good publicity.. and unplanned publicity is the best.

So yeah if you can get, why not take advantage of it. No matter how good something may or may not stand onits own.. free publicity never hurts, and is never turned down.
