Hibachi is my girlfriend's favorite type of food. We go out for it every couple of weeks.

Recently we tried cooking it ourselves and it turned out delicious. We made a steak, chicken, and shrimp combination meal. Tasted very similar to the restaurant's recipe.

We will probably be cooking this very often. Now if only I could master the knife-juggling part. :p

Does anyone else love hibachi as much as we do?

Oh, trying Hibachi is a must! ;)

American "Hibachi Style" is what we refer to a Japanese style of cooking called Teppanyaki.
Here is the Wikipedia article on it: Teppanyaki - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Enjoy
Oh okay. I was confused for a sec, because a hibachi is a Japanese barbeque pit. Yes, teppanyaki is great! I love it. If you get it at BeniHana (or however you spell it) you get a show as well. My beloved is Japanese (Okinawan) and her folks break out the beef & hibachi whenever we can get out there to visit. :licklips::licklips::licklips:

I lived in Okinawa growing up, and the American "hibachi" is great, but I always feel left out because I'm the only one that calls it Teppanyaki.

Seriously though, if you can find a Japanese place that has plastic food in the windows as their "menu", it'll probably be the most authentic place you can go.

Hibachi is so expensive though. I spent about 80 the other night...

My boyfriend was born in Okinawa :)

Yeah it costs 80 here too, we went at like 8pm.. but we went there for lunch and it was 20 dollars and some and we got the same thing we had when we went for dinner...

Ever go to a place called Sam's? It may sound American, but it was the best damn Teppanyaki I've ever had!
Sam's by the Sea? Good stuff! :licklips:I'm not sure it's still there though. There've been tons of changes in the last 8 years or so.
