Over the years I have found myself watching less and less TV. I've never really been the one to sit watching TV for hours anyway, but more and more I've found myself shaking my head at the TV because it's just so lame. I watch probably only about 1 hour a week of TV at the most, and because I think it's just much easier and covenient if there's a programme I want to see to find it on the internet. You also get to skip the commercials, which I think is perhaps one of the worst aspects of Television. Even the background noise of gameshows and such that my parent's watch really irritate me. So my question is, have you found yourself watching less TV, more, or has there been no change over the years in the amount you consume? Does it annoy you or entertain you?

Before I would just use my laptop and watch tv at the same time but it the content you can now find online I don't even see television. Now I just use my desktop with 2 monitors, one usually for conversations/tv and the main one for what ever I'm doing at that time.

I've almost stopped watching TV entirely since half a year ago, and I haven't missed it one bit. I still catch a glimpse or watch a couple of minutes when my parents/ sister are watching and I'm in the living room, but most of what they watch are talent shows, which I've got no interest in at all. I still watch a couple of TV shows on my computer, but those aren't even on TV in my country, so I haven't really got a choice in that regard.

I watch more TV than anything else. At any given time, my DVR is over 50% full. I usually watch a couple or three hours after work and save the rest for the weekends. Of course, there's also the video games and comic books. Those have to be divided (time wise) so I can do unimportant but necessary things. Like eat and sleep.

I'm sure I could do without most of the things I watch. I'll admit I watch an enormous amount of useless, worthless, and generally terrible shows. These act as good background noise when I'm doing things on my computer or writing.

I have stopped watching TV on the television, however, I do keep up with my shows by streaming them online. There is no point in paying for cable when I have no time to sit there and channel surf, which had become increasingly boring over the years. Now I try to focus on my studies. I'll be graduating college soon, so I need to devote more time to that and less time to the TV.

Yes, with the internet, television just became useless to me.
Nowadays, internet is far superior, you can watch what you want, when you want, without waiting and advertising, I just watch TV when I'm on the kitchen having meals.

I stopped watching TV three years ago when I moved out of my parents' house. I don't miss it at all, I realized how dumbening and useless it is with all those commercials and reality shows. I am completely fine with my laptop, I don't need anything else. If I want to watch a movie, I can watch it any time I want to on my laptop, instead of waiting for it to come out on some TV channel or another. Besides, I save a lot of money on bills and whatnot for not owning a TV... Or so I like to believe.

I've left cable TV behind but not TV in general. I'm a cord cutter so we Netflix/torrent the hell outta stuff.

We also have 29 local HD channels we get with just an antenna. Saving over $100/month feels pretty frickin good bros.

When I moved into my new apartment a few months ago, I left the television with my ex-boyfriend, and I have not missed it once. I already watched most of the TV programs I liked online anyway, and I could not justify the extra cost of cable for the few that I did not. I have a Hulu Plus subscription and do not seem to ever run out of things to watch. I love being able to see an entire series run without waiting for it to air on television.

I stopped watching Tv a long time ago. Now I watch all my favorite shows and documentaries on the computer. You don't have to see all the feeble-minded commercials, and you can watch them whenever you want or if you are busy pause and watch later. Also the quality is Full HD and the sound is better.

I still watch TV but not for the shows. Mostly it's for sports since it's hard to get sports on the internet with great quality stream. Unless you have those gameday passes and nba pass but those cost too much. Tv shows and movies are mostly streamed by me. The TV is for sports and news. I like to watch those live.

Not completely, but most of my families tv viewing is with public broadcasting. We have really limited viewing "live" tv due to much of the inappropriateness that is aired now. Most of the time any shows we watch we get either through a networks site or hulu.

I have the television playing like a radio, most of the time. I don't really sit down and actually watch it before dinner. Even then, we don't watch broadcast television, opting for BBC America, Pivot, or other, less mainstream stations.

We considering replacing our television with simple flat computer monitors mounted on the walls. We have satellite television, so everything already runs through our computer connection. Changing our set up would allow a split screen with computer work performed on one side and a program playing on the other.

The other option we've discussed is just dumping satellite and buying a Hulu membership. I heard that Hulu has no commercials which, if true, would be a huge bonus!

Either way, I think our days of having actual television sets are numbered.

Depends what you mean, I guess. I haven't owned a TV *set* in years, so I don't watch broadcast television. But I watch more TV shows than ever, there's a lot of good stuff on, I just access it via the computer.

Watching programs when they air is a thing of the past. Now that you're able to download something when YOU want to watch it that has fallen to the wayside. I do appreciate TV at this point in time. The writing has gotten to the point where I can cite a few shows that keep me wanting to watch every week. I has been a long time since television had the power to do that with me.

I still watch TV, it's my main way of finding shows I like. Getting everything online is great and all, but there's something comforting about just being fed whatever show is on by the TV instead of having to choose it yourself every time. I do have some phases wherein I wouldn't turn on the TV for weeks and just rely on my computer, but I would probably never give up my cable.

I sure did. I don't watch TV for quite long now. I prefer to watch everything in my computer as it's alot more confortable. I also prefer to see it with delay so I can pause and continue whenever I want, just like record, etc.

I have a lot of TV shows what I love, but I NEVER watch them on the actual television. What you say is true - it's just so much more convenient to watch stuff online. I think this is a pretty common sentiment among younger people. I would seriously consider not even buying a TV when I get my own place, though I guess TVs are still useful for when you want to watch stuff with a group of people, or if you're into console gaming.
