Just curious if anyone else on this site is into overclocking computers...

I've overclocked my E6300 on my desktop from 1.86ghz to 3.74ghz, over 100% OC!
I've also overclocked my laptop Pentium M processor from 1.7ghz to 2.25ghz. FSB pinmod FTW. :D
Finally, I overclocked my E4300 at work from 1.8ghz to 3.15ghz (didn't go higher because I wanted to be 100% sure it was stable without increasing the voltage).

Anyone else?

Nice OC on the 6600... it's rare to get them much higher than 3.4. I'd be more into OCing graphics cards if they could OC better. It's just not worth all the effort put into it for a 5-10% gain in performace, at least to me. :)

And most laptops can't overclock. But I found a pinmod for the Pentium M Dothans that works by taking a default 400 mhz FSB processor up to 533 mhz FSB. Read more here: Laptop Pin Mod Overclocking Guide - LaptopLogic.com

Also, did the same mod on my mom's laptop, and she thanked me for turning her sluggish laptop into a "supercomputer", lol. The biggest oddity though, is that it is staying cooler than my old 1.5ghz processor, and giving me much better battery life. I expected the opposite on both, but they are largely undeniable differences. My aging battery could only hold a charge for 1.5 hours no matter what I tried before the mod, but I can squeeze more than 2 hours out of it now.... very wierd. Definitely made a huge difference in operations speed though. Also, temps never go above 55-60C now, where they used to get up to 80C on my old processor. All in all, couldn't be happier with making the mod.

I tend not to overclock too much. But I have in the past, remember all those years ago, when 2ghz was the magical pinnacle of processor power that everyone sought after? I hit it with OCing hehehe

Custom PC's by Puget Systems; Mineral Oil Submerged Computer

I know this is old, but it's a damn good idea. There's a company making cases made for oil cooling but I can't remember the name.
Haha, yeah those are sweet, I've always wanted to try it. The only problem is that the heat takes forever to dissipate without a rad... so if you want to run your computer all the time, or even a few hours every day, you could end up with some heat problems. But, add a rad with it, and you'd have a sweet setup.

Oh, and you could never bring your computer anywhere either, lol.

On a P5k motherboard i have had this CPU boot into windows at 4ghz on 1.55V!
Haha, nice! The highest I've ever gotten is 3.74 ghz on my E6300, but it could've gone higher if I had better ram... I was running 800mhz G'Skill @ 1070mhz to get that overclock as it was! The Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L is an awesome overclocker too BTW. Ran 535mhz FSB no problem.

Not a fan of gigabyte though i have heard those boards are amazing.

l my OC been with pc6400 ram. I have never been limited by ram in an overclock, ecspecially on an nvidia chipset as i run it unlinked.

Unlinked would help me out a ton, but your Q6600 isn't limited to a 7x multiplier either. ;) That's where the real problem is, because the E6300 only has a 7x multi, so I have to run a high FSB to get the clocks high, and the ram has to at least double the FSB speed (2.00 multi) on my board.

Ram and fsb are linked via a ratio either 1:1 or 5:4 or something like that, multiplier overclocking is for pansys lol

Fsb is where it is at! Q6600 have a max of *9 on the multi i run it on 8.
