I get headaches at least once a month at the moment.

I thought it was my pill, because they always came on the week that I wasn't taking it and my doctor thought it might be a withdrawal headache, which made sense. So I've been taking the pill without a break. Still getting the headaches.

It's not my eyesight - I've been short-sighted since I was about 5, so I know what an eyesight related headache feels like.

They settle behind one of my eyes - never both, normally the left eye, but my neck also feels stiff with it, almost as though if I could just release the tension in my neck then my whole headache would vanish. It doesn't seem to be related to anything specific because my daily routine doesn't vary much, but I only get the headaches every 3-4 weeks.

They also last for days at a time. This is my fourth day with one at the moment. I wake up with it. Yesterday it faded a lot and I thought it would be over, but today it's back :(

Anyone who knows a good way to stop the pain that's not drug-related, please post!

Damn that sounds horrible. Seeing as you say it feels like if you could release the tension in your neck it would go why don't you try using a good neck massager to try and work it out?

I have read that pain behind the right eye means you need more iron while pain behind the left eye means you need more zinc. If it's starting in your neck then maybe a chiropractic adjustment would help.

I know you said not drug-related but in my opinion nothing beats Excedrin for a headache.

That's fascinating. My dad's had a lot of trouble with his back and spent a lot of time at chiropracters, I might have to get the number for one off him!

I'm avoiding the pills because I've found taking normal doses, like say two paracetamol and two ibuprofen together, doesn't even touch it. I don't want to build up a huge resistance to painkillers, so I'm trying to cut down :( mainly I've just been living with it.

@Kate - that's a good idea, maybe I should ask for one for christmas! :)

Mix warm water and salt. Drink it in one and then lie back and close your eyes. It'll be gone in no time.

I haven't got a clue if that works, just made it up now.

I used to see a chiropractor but I found the more I went, the more I needed to go. When I stopped seeing him my back didn't get as bad.

sounds like a migraine to me as well. I usually take Excedrine which has a lot of caffiene. Cool, quiet & dark and sleep are my only options when I get one.

I used to be able to sleep them off too - they might last all day, but I knew at least when I got some sleep and relaxed, they'd be gone when I woke up.

Now, I wake up and it's still there :(

I thought of caffeine briefly! I had a coke the other day lol :p didn't help. Might try a coffee when I get home, see if that helps.

No! Fuck that! I'm in an office, they have coffee right here!

alternate hot and cold packs behind your neck and forehead. This helps to relax the veins causing the pain - I do this and it works. Also have someone squeeze/pinch your shoulders near your neck. These things Really work for me:thumbup
