I keep a birdfeeder, don't have hummingbirds where I live-will on the property and BOY are you right Fred they are really going thru it. I feel a little guilty though because, my cat watches them avidly at our front window and every once in a while, goes out and brings in a bird thru the cat door! So though I am feeding a bunch of birds, I'm also lining up my cat's next catch! :ninja

I have two feeders on my front porch. I took pictures of them last year. We have several different distinct Hummingbird species.

I have one Hummingbird feeder in our small garden area. I've had to stop filling it full though. These really beautiful orange/yellowish/black colored birds land on it and tip it causing the fluid to spill out on them. It's the weirdest thing to see. As long as I only fill it half full, they can land and it won't spill out. The Hummingbirds use it all day long too. I can't believe how much fighting goes on between the Hummingbirds though! They seem to fight for rights among themselves constantly! I have to fill it half full every two days. (8 ounces each time).

I also have a small wildbird feeder too, along with hanging flowering plants, and flowering plants growing in the ground. It's a very busy area and I love the variety of birds/butterflies that visit. :)

Hummingbirds are very territorial. With 2 feeders spaced several feet apart one hummingbird cannot keep it all to himslf. Yes they are quite aggressive. They will buzz me when I am refilling the feeders. They will also get real close to my face and chatter at me. When the feeders get low they will actually come to my window where I work and look in. My wife has a lot of flowers and they visit them a lot as well.

I'm planning on adding another Hummingbird feeder, as well as another wildbird feeder. I too noticed they zoomed right at me when refilling! Hubby said it was because I was standing so still and they didn't realize I was there!

I saw the strangest thing too in regards to the Hummingbird feeder..... a large Bee and a Hummingbird were 'arguing' over the feeder!!!! I was asking why the Hummingbird didn't just eat the Bee and hubby said because the Bee was too damn big for the bird to eat!!! LOL! Eventually the Bee went to the flowers.

I also want to note that I had never seen a Hummingbird perch before having this feeder. They are soooooooo cute! Particularly the Ruby Red Throated variety.

We have 2 varieties with the red throat. One is predominantly black or gray the other is predominantly green. They are amazing to watch. I watch them go from the feeders to a Bradford Pear in the yard. The females coloration are not as pretty as the males. We have had issues with wasps getting into the feeder too and seen the hummingbird and wasp "fighting" for lack of a better word.
