Any Unitarians?

Just wondering......I am and because of the diversity of this forum, I would be surprised if I was the only one.

I'm a former one -- turns out I'm a little too conservative for the Unitarians, and a little too liberal for the Southern Baptists. Haven't found that middle ground yet.

That's odd. Not that you haven't found your niche, that's easy to understand but that you felt you were too conservative for the UUs.

I think our (my) religion is all about tolerance, we have in our congregation those who believe in God in a very traditional way, those who are Atheists, those who are Agnostics, those that are Pagans......

That's why I like it, I like people with different points of view so I can consider things from several angles.

Well, there's a reason there's the joke that the only time you hear a Unitarian minister mention Jesus Christ is when he stubs his toe on his way to the pulpit. Don't get me wrong, I've participated in a great many groups, including pagans, both affiliated with the UUs and not. Even so, I'm probably more at home with the more traditional Universalist churches, which tend to have more of traditional Christianity, while still being open and eclectic. Those that lean more to the Unitarian side are far less so, in my experience.

I used to attend a UU church.

It's the closest to my own beliefs, which is basically "Here's the situation- find your own path."

I liked it because at least once a month we invited somebody from another faith in, like a Rabbi or a Muslim, and gave them the chance to tell us what they believed... and then we got to question them.

I don't think the Muslim was ready for us. :24: When a teenager started rattling off passages in the Koran that seemed to contradict what he just told us he fell back on the "The will of Allah is unknowable to man." while you could tell me was NOT amused at being called out by a smart-ass 16-year-old.
