I am going to be reinstalling my computer soon and am also going to be changing the anti-virus program that I use, which is Norton. I would appreciate your opinions on which one(s) are better. I prefer cheaper, but the cheaper it is, the less I trust it.

U didn't list AVG... Avast friggen sucks I've tried it. The options are limited and you have no real control over the program.

AVG Free. I had a paid version of Norton years ago and I had a virus every other week. I've been using AVG Free for about the past four years on three different computers. I haven't had any problems yet.

I've used a plethera of AV in the last few years... and anything that isnt Norton is generally a good thing.

Currently I am using McAfee's Total Protection for Small Business -> monitored software service.

AVG is pretty good, especially for being free. Although with anything I would recommend also running a spyware checker as well, as no AV is gonna be perfect.

I have used AVG and Avast. I like the fact Avast does more updates than does AVG.

I really question how much more you get with a paid version. I had McAfee and got viruses but with the free ones I have been clean. Probably depends upon how risky one is on the net

I have AVG and haven't had any problems with viruses.

But I agree I find it funny when I used to use Norton crap would get in but since I've used free protection I haven't had to worry about it.

One of the more highly rated anti-viruses is Panda. Otherwise AVG PAID FOR VERSION is actually a pretty solid anti-virus as long as you are smart with your web surfing.

well, i got macafee and so far I'm not really liking it too much... it seems like its slowing down my computer (then again it could be b/c my computer is vastly obsolete...) but it seems fine after a little while. we'll see how long it takes to scan my hard-drives...

I use Windows Live One Care which I love no slowing down of anything like with others I've used and it does all of it's upgrading and defragging etc at once.
