I've been kinda confused for the past two days. I got a work order yesterday for a couple of phones and a Nortel land line card installation. We drive out into the boondocks on the NE side of Ft Wayne near Grabill and finally find this place where the work is supposed to be done.
We walk into the office and immediately notice Amish people all over hte place.
The guy we were talking to is an older Amish gentlemen, he owns this cabinet/table carpentry shop out in the middle of nowhere right?
So he takes us over to this new office space he built. It needs to be wired up for phones and network.
Wait James, did you just say phones and network? Yes I did.
Turns out after we spent countless hours running all these lines that this place, co-owned by a Prominent (read: rich as fuck) Amish family, they have 18x20 (heightxwidth) wide screen monitors, and computers out the ying yang. To top it off they have a digital phone system and USE POWER TOOLS TO BUILD THEIR CABINETS.
This makes absolutely no sense to me. The name of the business is "Old Country Home", and they build "old" style things... with new age technology that the Amish aren't even supposed to have the luxury of using.
what the fuck? That religion confuses the hell out of me. They use technology they're not supposed to, get rich and then tip former delivery guys for shit. (I know this first hand)
I just don't get it.
