Just curious ... since the entire idea of our democracy/republic is representation, do you think that the general populace is properly being represented?

Personally, I don't think the general populace is being properly represented, more like special interests are paying for representation. However, thanks to a pretty good system of checks and balances, those in power are unable to run away with it.

Well OWS claims to be representing 99 percent

I didn't really pay too much attention to the OWS movement. While I think the general consensus has valid points about the gap between the obscenely wealthy and the desperately poor, there are too many in the group that really do believe in "free hand outs" and the like which just simply doesn't exist. There are certain phenomenons in the American system that go beyond being unfair and are simply unjust and do call for some change but OWS is not going to do much probably expect maybe be a starting point for a new revolution of sorts.
