Originally, my plans to be on the beach for the Memorial Day weekend fell through...but they rematerialized and here are some shots from the weekend! :)

It's a great place for families...plenty to do and not do, if that makes sense...Plus, it's really affordable, especially in the offish season...and the beaches are really lovely and private. Definitely a must see! :) Hopefully, "they" are wrong and Hatteras won't be gone in 10 years.

Yeah, I actually don't mind so much...I've been going to the OBX so long it's practically my home...and I miss it when I don't get to see it.

I never used to! It's just something new to me in the last couple of years! I always got sort of toasted almond colored...even a little darker sometimes. Being Italian and dark-ish complected, that's not a surprise. But the last few years, I get a burn even when I put sunscreen on...it's not right I tells ya...not right at all!

Though, when the burn fades, I do get very tan...so, I guess that's a good thing...but the burn isn't.

where is the OBX??? I live on the East Coast, Georgia...

They are barrier islands off of North Carolina...Sorry I always abbreviate that! It's the Outer Banks of North Carolina...here's a little map...I was in Salvo this go:

Did you stop in the "Froggy Dog" for a few drinks?

My buddies and I rented a beach house a couple of years during the fishing season, late octoberish. I love it down there, our house was about 1/2 mile north of the Hatteras lighthouse. I haven't seen the lighthouse since they moved it.

As a matter of fact, I had dinner there my first night! I've been going to the Froggy Dog probably since about 1992...it closed for a bit in between there and I know has had multiple owners but it's alive and well and under new management! A lot of things have changed hands though...like Bouy's in Buxton. I loved the Mother Son team owners Fern and Larry...I was bummed out when I saw it changed owners. I'm probably going back for a longer stay (most likely a week) in September so I want to make a point of going in and finding out what happened to them. They are really good people!

I've always stayed on Hatteras Island...Usually the Rodanthe, Waves, Salvo area...I did stay in Avon once as well. But really, you can't go wrong anywhere you go...it's just wonderful there.
