Do you think being in your 50's is too late to start having a family, as far as starting a family that late in life?

Just depends on your health, IMO. I mean I wouldn't want to start a family that late. If you have him when you're 50, you'll be 68 by the time he graduates high school.

like siad ebfore it owudl depnd on yoru health.. it is perfectly possible to have a family at that age but considerign the average life span and the natural occurances of health issues past age 55 it woudl seem rouhg to be 60 with a pubescant child goign through horomone issues...

I personnally think that 50 is a little late to start having a family, cause when when a child is growing up the parent will be very active...but if the parents are in excellent health, I guess starting a family at that age would not be a terrible thing to do, but i still would nto recomend it.

I think you can do anything you want to do if you put your mind to it. It will have its draw backs, but if that makes you happy then you need to follow your heart. : )

Well, my trumpet teacher, who's 49 (or something like that) just had his first kid about 8 months ago. He seems to be a fantastic father, and I see no problem with it yet. I mean, of course we'll have to wait a few years to see what happens down the line when the kid gets older, but Chuck (my trumpet teacher) seems like a really active guy for somebody approaching their 50's, and he'll have no problem keeping up with the kid when he gets up there. It just depends on the family, I guess.

50 is way too old. You are doing your child a dis-service at that age. You'd be 60+ by time they were 10. Doesn't seem fair to them to have the possibility of losing their parents before they even graduate high school. Or to not even remotely understand what they are dealing with or going through. When you are 60+, being 15 was a looooong time ago. I personally think the ideal age to start a family is 28. By 28, your starting to become wise.

Yeah
At 50 you`re life is almost over so no reason if you have not already had a kidd then no reason to start at 50

I don't think it's a bad thing but I do believe that if you want kids you should have them much earlier. People over 45 or so that are starting families are doing it for themselves & although they may make good parents, it may not be in the childs best interest.

Damn a little compassion here guys. I hope Miss Behavin isnt 50, cause if I was her and I was 50, I would probably be having a fucking anxiety attack right about now. Geesh. :)

I think it would be unfair to child. But then again, you would also be bringing a child into this world that otherwise wouldn't have had the opportunity to. We all know life is unfair, but I think any child/person you would ask who lost a parent at a young age would say despite the loss of their parent, they are still glad they were conceived. Besides, grandparents are always nicer to the kids than parents. Maybe if you had a kid at the age of a grandparent you'd be nicer? lol

Actually Kevin, on more reflection, I believe that you are right. Life is not fair, perhaps it would be ok to say that if you can have kids, without scientific help, at whatever age, then good bloody luck to you.

Yes i do. I know that I have adolesent Boys 12-13 years old and I I'm 39 years old. It rough sometimes. I know for a fact that if I was 50-60 Id'd be a hell of a lot worse. Sometimes now at 39 I feel like I'm having a heart attack when trying to deal with my unruly Boys. This is just my opinion.

LMAO! Nope, nowhere near 50 yet! I also dont want anymore kids. Just thought it was a good subject. Overheard someone talking about it and thought it was something to ponder on.
