Anyone else see this movie? I saw it with someone im dating last weekend, and Ive had it for awhile, but never got around to watching it.
In case you dont know, Across The Universe is a musical featuring all Beatles songs, and they are sung by the characters throughout the course of the movie.
As a whole, I gotta say I didnt really like the whole package, but there were alot of things I liked about the movie.
I liked how all the characters have names based on Beatles songs (Jude, Prudence,JoJo,Lucy, etc.)
I also liked alot of their renditions of the songs they did. The movie starts off with Jude by himself on the beach singing "Girl" (one of my faves from them), and Prudence's "I Wanna Hold your Hand", and Bono makes a guest appearance singing "I Am The Walrus (rocked!) as did Joe Cocker singing "Come Together"
What I did NOT like, was the poor job of actually telling a story. One second the crew is here, and before you know it they are there, and you dont really know what happened. So it seems like your always playing catch-up.
I also did not like the over-the-top musical stuff. The songs themselves are fine, but do we really need to see Elaborate animations and tripped out pshycadelic sequences?
Anyways, if your a Beatles fan you gotta see this movie, and you'll probably love it. Outside of that I suggest people give it a shot and see what you think about it.
