I read the story elsewhere. Supposedly a US Citizen was talking about having a bomb during the flight. Two US marshalls stopped him after the plane arrived in Orlando on the walkway to the terminal, he tried to reach into his bag and got shot.

Ok, if he was considered a threat possibly holding a bomb and was being escorted off the plane and into the terminal, then why in the hell would they let him carry his own bag? WTF were these air marshals thinking?

Nevermind, I just read an article on it and it said that he was running off the plane, the air marshals never had custody of the man. Read it Here

I had an argument with a guy at work earlier. He thinks the Marshall totally overreacted, and should not have shot. He said something about shooting the guy in the knee or something.... :dunno

A flightline is no place for a bomb to go off. If he was threatoning to blow himself up, then I vote for the takedown.

I just hope they don't attack the Air Marshall service for this. They're doing their jobs to protect us, and it's a crappy job to have. So my hats off to them.

of course kill his ass. who cares if he is "mentally unstable" the jackass is a naturalized US citizen traveling form S America and claiming to have a bomb in his carry on bag. marshalls had every right to chase his ass down and kill him. they did everything perfectly by getting him away from the people and plane then shooting him, and the left needs to not criticize the incident, but accept it and honor it. the marshalls performed their duty, and they protected the people. hell, they dont have the most gratifying job- policing the skies isnt easy, but someone's got to do it

watching cbs last night and waiting for o'reiley to come on, a guy was interviewed and he said that the dead man's wife/girlfriend was yelling "he is bipolar!" and he drew the conclusion that since the man was claimed to be bipolar, the marshalls should not have shot.

unfortunately, in times of panic/crisis calling for immediate decisions to save lives, interview time to ask what medical condition(s) the man may have is not going be given.

i think that by tonight there will be 3-4 different yet affiliated groups to the far left that criticize the marshalls' decision and call for some sort of reform. which, when this happens, i will be popcorn in hand waiting for o'reiley to bash him

For all they knew, he was reaching to detonate a bomb. Shooting his legs wouldn't have stopped his arm. Shooting his arm would've been to close to the bomb they believed was there. Shooting center mass is more accurate, and necessary in this case.

exactly. the air marshalls are trained long and hard to perform their job accurately and on the spur of the moment. a grade A is deserved here for their heroic efforts

Does anyone here know what bipolar actually means? It simply means you have random mood swings. Random mood swing or not, if he had a bomb he had a bomb. Suicide bombers don't give two shits about anything but accomplishing their objective. Whether he was happy or pissed off doesn't effect the situation.

The Marshalls did what they felt they needed to do, and as someone who is not ready to leave this world, I would have thanked them over and over for doing what they did just because he CLAIMED to have a bomb.

james, one of my mom's co-worker's sons was bipolar. his family didnt know until he had gotten in fights and kicked out of school because of his intense emotional swings. he basically was on extreme pms all his life and got in much trouble for it.

i agree that bipolarity has no effect on suicide bombers, and the issue really never needed to come out that he was even bipolar. the media just needed more shit to describe the guy so they could make a better or worse story depending on the news group's political affiliation

but i do agree that the air marshalls did what was right, and hopefully this occurance will be very rare and our trust in aviation can again grow higher than the automobile

well, bipolarity *might* have an effect, and that is when to explode the bomb. like for instance, you could achieve a better result for human death by maybe blowing the bomb a few minutes after takeoff, so that the carnage rains down on people below. same for just before touchdown.

or you can detonate the explosive when the plane is refueling, so that you take out the plane and the refueler, so that it creates more of a stall for commerce and the transportation of people.
