as much fun as this sort of thing is i cant wait for the warmer weather so i can start sneaking up on insects again

A macro lens won't normally allow you to get a shot like that. The reason he did was because of his patience... hours of patience and maybe a little bait. I've been shooting birds for years and have never gotten that close without a real good zoom lens.

As far as his macro lens is concerned he does put it to very good use. :clap You'll see when spring / summer rolls around ain't that right Ian.

I do know what a macro lens is for..I dont tend to shoot things like birds anyway..I'm more a portrait person and i try landscapes but fail...but flowers are probably my speciality hence my reasonings for wanting a macro lens...

As for my comment, I did however mention that I lack the patience that was required for this shot!

yep.....this lens has turned out to be money well spent guyz....i think that that particular robins got to know me:D

a nice macro would be good for you to get,perfect for flowers and one of the better lenses you can get for taking portraits

with the landscapes have you tried merging images?it can make all the difference

Nah I havnt given it a go..maybe I should but i wouldnt know where to start! But my landscapes fail on horizon lines and the fact I never seem to shoot something that is worth shooting..nothing spectacular is what I mean! My shots just look boring!
