The article reported that some would say that movies, TV, videogames, lazy parents and lax discipline may all be to blame.

Bullshit. People will blame anything on the media to keep the blame off them. "What? Little Johnny killled someone?? Must have been the tv show he watched last night". Those parents obviously suck at being parents.

According to the Canton Health Department, statistics through July show that 104 of the 586 babies born to Canton residents in Aultman Hospital and Mercy Medical Center had mothers between 11 and 19.

I wasnt even thinking about sex when I was in 4th or 5th grade! It never even crossed my mind at all! So, what Im wondering is, how are these kids finding out about sex and how are they getting away with it so young?????

I have to agree that it is up to the parents to teach the children how and what and where and when. In Europe their television is much more riské, but yet they have less rape, less teen pregnancies, etc. But yet, we do blame it on tv usually. It is up to the parents to monitor what your children watch and do, so if it were a tv show or a game that influenced them, it still boils down to the parents. I would though almost guarantee that most of these girls are in split homes. Unfortunately, more kids are than not. I pray to the Lord that I teach my children well enough to wait…if not until they are married, at least until they are responsible enough to make sure they love that person and are going to protect themselves from more than pregnancy. Pregnancy is not the only bad that can comes out of having sex out of marriage. It causes disease, and emotional pain for years.

Tell me just exactly what you think about this!

I think that my child better not EVEN be experiementing when she hits that curious stage!

I'm thinking that none of these girls went to my school. Only 1 got pregnant, a red head named Jill. Her boyfriend made 11 an hour at the time, so you know they were pretty well off.

Of course, anything to not blame themselves for not being there for their child or monitoring what their kids are doing. Hell, parents work so much nowadays, kids have plenty of free time to fool around after school and then shit happens.

I think that's disturbing that so many kids in ONE school are pregnant, but i suppose at least they won't feel as outcasted or embarassed. I remember about 10 girls getting pregnant throughout my senior year and everyone always looked at them and treated them like crap. Sure, they were stupid for not being careful, but I imagine it's already hard enough.

Anyways, almost half my friends from high school have been pregnant (and miscarried for being so young) or had babies already and I'll be 20 next month.

People are so stupid for not protecting themselves.

Ick...my son just started 4th grade. Couldn't imagine him having sex.

But I'm sure the 4th and 5th grade girls are getting pregnant from boys MUCH older.

Times sure have changed...what happened to the good ole days?
