Killishan Masai, Ayamzagirl and Droopys Djokovic all won by a nose in the triple dead heat at odds of “30 million to one”. Not even photo-finish technology at the London track was able to determine a winner.

A huge cheer went up at Romford Stadium when the unprecedented triple win of the 8.50pm Coralcasino.com race was announced – at 925 metres it is the furthest distance that greyhounds can race over.

Simon Clare, of Coral Bookmakers, said: “We’d put the odds on it happening at 30 million to one – like winning the national lottery then getting struck by lightning.”

Jim Daly, 41, who trained Droopys Djokovic, said: “It was a good spectacle for greyhound racing and nice to be a part of the history.”

Romford and Wimbledon are the last two remaining dog tracks in London.
