would governments be so stupid as to save the rich in the case of armageddon,people that cant do anything for themselves or are too old to keep the species going...people who rely on others

personally i think they would,young viable people would perish while the old or useless would survive

It probably depends on the type of armageddon anticipated, and the possible methods of survival. If it were really were a case of a 2012 style 'ark' then no, I don't think they would choose old and helpless people over the young and those who make an impact on society. I dont believe it will just end. I think that 2012 is a rough guess that a few cultures had about a time of drastic change.
No its not gonna go KABOOM, but big things will happen. With all the flooding, earthquakes, tsunami's and hurricanes that have all happened very quickly i believe that 2012 is infact here. Were not all gonna die but shits gonna change for sure.

You know that even if you're right and 'the government' managed to get themselves all onto the 'save' list despite some of them being rather old, they only actually make a tiny portion of our entire country. Pretty much every government of every country is the minority, so they could save themselves and still save millions of useful, young people.

Besides, there'd be a public uproar about that kind of thing. It could hardly stay secret.
