I think 2012 will come and go and we'll all still be alive because I think that it could mean a lot more than we're going to fly at lightspeed into the sun and all burn up and die.

Perhaps it's the beginning of a new age? ;]

Maybe I've seen it....is it the one where scientists now believe that it could happen, and they talk about bees being extinct etc etc?

If it IS that one.....its VERY eye opening:nod:

Oh my god, I just discovered something that will change everything that we know.....

My desktop calender runs out at the end of the year, so I can safely predict that the world will end at midnight on the 31st December, 2009.

same thing will happen as on January 1, 2000. everybody thought the world was going to blow up. last time i checked, the only thing that happened on January 1, 2000 was everybody celebrating the world didn't end. i predict it will be the same thing this time around.

I'm torn one way or the other one what to think about this. I could come up with a bunch of ways it could happen, but unless it's a force of nature, I have to wonder if it's the whole self-fulfilling prophecy thing?

And I hate how they went from SciFi to SyFy... it's so stupid.

grrrrr. The Mayans have a lot to answer for, at least Y2K had some basis in reality.

I cannot believe that there are modern humans with all the history of man at their fingertips that could even begin to believe that this is true. There have been dozens of Doomsady predictions & not one of them has come true. There have been planetary lineups before & nothing happened (the gravity of our neighbouring planets is too weak, even in a line).

You may as well believe in Santa, the Tooth Fairy & God. The Mayans knew even less about the universe than we do, how could they have predicted the end of the planet?

Please think about this very carefully, it's a great premise for a movie but so was a giant gorilla that liked to play with planes.

One theory I heard about the Mayan calendar thing, suppose "Bob", for lack of a Mayan name, the calendar maker, died and no one thought it important enough to keep going. It could be that simple. Yes? :) :) :)
