2012...Is it just me, or was this movie only so-sol?

So, I watched 2012 a week ago. I really thought that it was going to be better than it was. I thought that there would have been a little more focus on the Mayan calender etc.. Thought it was going to be a little darker and serious. I thought that it was a little too hokey for my taste.
However, now that I know going in, I'm pretty sure I'll like it better the second time around.
