35 years ago we did not have cellphones so many of us were distracted with CB Radios. Today was a reminder of that time.

my dad was a trucker he had a CB in his rig and we had one at home so in case of any emergency he could radio us to call AAA or whoever....Dad was known as Leadfoot and I was Leadfoot #2....

CB radios are always funny to me to hear.. I guess because I listen to regular police radios/ ems/fire/law on a daily basis so when I hear REDNECK truck drivers, it makes me laugh. :) (OH and sooo not calling anyone on this forum redneck.. however, some of the truck drivers from THIS area, ARE redneck! LOL)

I will NEVER forget my senior year of high school, sitting in the garage at my friend Jennifer's grandmother's house playing on their CB radio. The guy on the other end had a heavy Spanish accent and, when we asked him where he was, her grandmother thought he said "you sound like a bitch." She freaked out and made us stop talking to him and we're all going "Grandma, he said Satellite Beach!!!" :24:

too funny!! I remember my daddy telling me not to listen to the radio too much. they had the CB radios in their patrol cars in the keys (key west fl) when he was on the road ( in 86-88) and I would ride with him sometimes. He would tell me what it meant when the truck drivers said certain things (like smokey the bear, etc).. Ill never forget times like that. Those were good memories.

We got a convoy.

always remember that song!

last CB we had as a family was a Cobra. If I remember correctly, 19 was the open channel to find someone.

i forgot what was the emergency channel?

I believe there were 23 channels then they upgraded to 40 channels. 9 was the emergency, fire & rescue channel. A lot of young girls would get on the radio and flirt leading guys to look for them, as soon as the guys got close they would turn their radio off.
