Probably not.. I swear they are stupid out here.. .

At home if they weather is suspected to be bad they will delay an hour then figure out from there and 90% of the time they will cancel to err on the side of safety!
They only delay if heavy fog here.

However, if the weather worsens they dismiss early.

I've got the booze chilling and there will be a fire for sure. Got some movies too just in case.

I'm ready! :willy_nilly:
Let it snow let it snow let it snow..... :D

Can I come over? I promise not to talk too much. I have beer and wine...and I can cook!

32 SNOW DAYS!!!!! :eek :eek :eek

Was there school to make it up thru the summer?

Man, we NEVER had school called and we would get feet of snow! :(

I remember the bus skating sideways down Park Avenue because it was so bad out...but we did make it to school! :24::24:

I grew up in the snow belt...the buses just put chains on the tires and away we went. :p

Where I grew up we used to get so many much snow we would have 8 feet of it by Jan. The winters are now milder and less snow but they still cancel because most of the roads are rural and the teachers have to drive so far too.

My parents taught in the district next to mine...and I grew up in a small town, but it was like a metropolis compared to where my parents taught. Some of those roads were so bad (and so untraveled) that we'd actually soap up our sleds and sled on them...but they were like us...always had school! Now I think they are more lenient...which is also funny because it is a lot milder now.

Kids these days don't know how lucky they are! *shakes fist* :24::24:

That was my token old fartism of the day. ;)

LOL most of the time the drives for teachers were normally at least an hour when it snowed heavy it was nearly 2 hours... Bad roads blowing snow and such.

They don't have many snow days now but if there is one drop of freezing rain... that it all it takes for them to call school. Living on an Island kinda had it's charms :D

That's true...you would get some really crazy weather being surrounded by water.

Of course, our troubles could have been that my bus driver was high half the time. She used to see things...I remember she was screaming about muskrats running in front of the bus once. I wouldn't know a muskrat if it jumped up and bit me in the ass.

Yeah Nor'Easters are something to fear... And the snow never seems to come from one direction at once it comes from all.

That sounds a bit scary... :eek

:waving:

But back later, you guys, ok?

Laters! :)

I was in one of those in North Carolina...it was early spring and I was staying literally right next to the ocean...the only thing separating me from the sea wall was a dune. But, watching the ocean in the aftermath was AMAZING! One of the coolest things I've ever seen.

She was nuts...a cross between entertaining and downright frightening.
