ok...your thoughts

Well, there's no doubting you are more than capable Sky.

If you take your time to take everything into account, re your charges, profit margin against your initial outgoings for the various lenses etc,(some like those misty/foggy effect pics don't they, at weddings?), if what you can make out of what you charge is a good size profit, and you have time on your hands, then why not.

If it was me getting married, I'd ask you to do mine for sure.

Go with what you think, but make sure you won't be out of pocket - it's got to be worth your while and effort at the end of the day. :) ;)
 
we were just talking about this! remember the cost thing though i think you would do a fantastic job (you always do) if it were me i'd say go for it if you dont have to go and splurg for all the extra stuff you were talking about
 
well the deal would be.......they know i dont do people normally and i think i could do it with the lenses i have........i wouldn't do any printing,i'd take the pictures throughout the day and evening,do any editing and put them on a memory card.......that way they can print off the pictures that they like

and theres no pressure to get it right

and i'm going to the wedding anyway

i'm really tempted......could be a well earned wide angle lens with what i make

That's a good idea actually, to put on to a memory card, they get to choose which ones they have and pay for too.

So, how much would you think of charging then, roughly, if just taking and editing and putting on a mem card, rather than getting them printed yourself?

I suppose you can't charge too much for that.

Also, maybe agree an amount of pics you will do, before the day - you will have to have a breaking point, you will be exhausted otherwise - it takes a long time doesn't it, to get the poses right.

When I got married, it took ages just for about 30 poses.

The rest I said to just take as and when felt like it, because I was worn out let alone person doing the photography. ;)

they'll just keep the card and use what they like........they offered 300 which i thought was good seeing as i'd never done it before

some pics will be posed......outside the church for example......but after that i think random shots work best......its more natural

Yeah, that's best I think, as was saying - they choose then. Nice one! :)

Yep, that's good amount, very good - take it, don't take less and stress, it's only cos you know them, or it'll normally be around £550.00. ;) A friend of mine paid around £700.00 for hers.

Yeah, like i had at my wedding - I preferred to be random, as it was tiring posing too long and more natural as you say. :)

Wedding photography does pose different considerations than landscape etc cause you're more dealing with closer subjects with varied lighting considerations. Have you read up anything on this type of photography? That may help. I guess you would have photographed people during the course of time tho. Just not professionally.

I think you should do alright tho with your photographic experience. Would make for a good freelance career too. And...more money more money more money. :)

I've thought of doing something like that also as I've done some photography for weddings of family and friends and also other events.
What I had done was do the photography and produced a slideshow from the photographs including music, motion and other effects and subtitles. Then saved the slideshow as a quicktime movie that can be played back on computer monitor, and/or as a DVD movie that can be played back on TV. The ones I did were well received that I was asked to consider doing some more, covering weddings and such as a professional sideline. I quite liked the idea and it was fun doing them but I still haven't followed up with the plan. Time I guess.

The nice thing with producing a slideshow is that it makes it more interesting, esp with music and the effects, of course....plus you still have the pictures for print reproduction as needed.
 
try something new!
you never know how great it could turn out.
besides even if it turns out crappy you still have the experiance.
and if all these people are saying you should and how great you'd be than take there word for it!
