Stress

I wanna talk about stress in general.
like what causes it for you most of the time?
how do you deal with large amounts or stress?
Why do we stress so much when it doesnt change anything and is extremely unhealthy for us?

Just recently I have had a whole shit pile of stressful things happen......and for once i didnt turn around and grab a bottle. yeah i may have grabbed a big joint, but hey im tryin. I also always get this really bad rash on my inner arms and neck when im stressed out cuz i generally scratch those areas when stressed.

sometimes i hate having a really good imagination that allows me to picture things really well. Such as an ex of mine from not to long ago having a threesome with a friend of mine and his girlfriend. God damn you picturative imagination!

but i digress from my point. STRESS! lets hear it peeps!

I get stressed about money mostly. I want to make sure I'm taking care of my ends. I manage it well though. I'll be stressed for a bit, but will turn right around and find something to take it away. Shit, right now I'm listening to nature sounds. They help control my anxiety.:D

I dont want to take medication or anything like that. Cause its all in my head.

I get stressed very easily but its a lot to do with my aspurgers syndrome. I like having things orderly and planned and when unexpected things happen it completely throws me and I get really stressed. The doctors have prescribed me all sorts of medication but none of them work. The only things I've found so far which help calm me down are cigarettes, cannabis and alcohol (but not spirits). Not the best way to self medicate but I really am at a loss as to any other way of coping, I've tried all sorts of other shit and nothing else works.:(

ok.

Work.

I end up pulling my muscle or smoking too much.

Stress isn't a coping factor, it's the effect of the cause, thats why we do it, even subconciously.

I have to be honest here. I don't get stressed. Not saying that I am perfect or anything, but I am kind of a laid back person and I don't let anything bother me. I just kind of blow it off and what ever it is will eventually work it self out.

Personal wise I hardly get stressed out, not saying haven't had before but generally no. I tend to don't let things bother me for too long. Deal with it and move on. But I get stressed out at the office on almost a daily basis. But that's the nature of the biz.

When it happens I might react or try to keep calm altho I may be boiling inside. All depends on the location and circumstance. What I tend to do when I get the chance is find a quiet spot and chill for awhile to collect myself and have a smoke. My chilling spot as I call it...well known to my colleagues. After a while I find I am sufficiently cooled down to get back in the mix.

How does stress affect me? What I find is that besides the built up pressure cooker feeling usually associated with stress is that it affects my appetite. And I have a hearty appetite normally. But when I'm stressed out that's one of the things I realise that goes with it. Once it's gone the appetite returns.

Why do we stress so much.............? Well I guess it is just human nature that things will affect us in various ways and it sets off some kind of chemical thing inside us. The thing is different people react and handle it differently. Some can deal with it and move on quicker than others, and for others it consumes them and they find it harder to shrug it off and it sets off all kinds of chain reactions as a result.

There's an old saying...."Stress is a killer"<-------Very true saying.

That's all I can think of right now.

Actually there are two typess of stress, eustress and dis-stress... eustress is good for the body and necessary to get us to perform.. it will increas your performance until the point that it becomes distress, then you peak and your perfomance degrades... lots of different reactions to different types of stress and stressors. for instance in a life or death situation you will stress... then you will get an extreme adreniline burst in your system to allow you to do some pretty cool stuff..

I will assume your speaking strictly of distress here.. its sometimes hard to seperate the two.. like at work, if the weather is bad, and there is an extemely injured person in the water/boat and i need to go get them.. im under a lot of stress..... but with that, the reward i think allows me to perform at my peak.. now if my boss starts in about how he wants to buy something, and i have to say "um no.. we dont have money" thats just bad..

how do i deal with bad stress..i vent.. probably to a fault.. to a friend or something.. just blow off some steam.. or spar.. but that degrades my sparing so i tend to use the heavy bag those days....
