What do you all think about it? I think it's pretty stupid that cops waste valuable time pulling people over for window tinting that is too dark, rather than trying to find real crime. I mean, damn, what's the worst that could happen with dark tinting? Other than hiding weapons I guess. And besides, not all tinting is as dark as it looks. Some I have seen change opacity(Visibility) from the angle you look at it.

What do you guys think?

in canada its legal to have it on the back window and back passenger window. but illegal for the side windows. But every second vehicle i see has tinted side windows so wtf?
i remember i had a cop make me remove my side window tint. so everytime i see somebody with their side windows tinted i get all bitter and pissed off.

There are laws against too dark (aka limo tint) because it's a safety concern for police officers.

Would you want to pull over 4 teenagers/gangsters/warrantees and NOT be able to see everyones hands?

I love my window tint, but mine is well within the legal limits and I understand the purpose of the laws.

Well, then why should limos be any different?

I believe there are certain industry guidelines vehicles have to have in order to be deemed "drivable", and I believe that really dark windows goes against that.

I never got why people would want to darken their windows to an extreme.

I have tint on my windows of my truck. You can get limo tint, but the people who do it don't give you a reciept. You are on your own then. I have limo tint on the back window, but on the sides it has to be legal tint.

Here are the laws by state.

State Window Tinting Laws

As an example, (Indiana) it's 30% for the sides and 30% for the rear.

This means that of the 100% of light that passes through a non tinted window, only 70% passes through that particular darkness of tint. 30% of the light is blocked.

I REALLY enjoy driving my car because of the tint during the day. When I drive the Cavalier (for work) it's not tinted and I find myself squinting a lot (no tint + a viser thats too short really irritates me)

Edit: Here's a link that explains some other things. Tint Laws

My hhr had some dark tint in the front, and a little of the front window was tinted too. It got annoying after a while...trying to see thru the tint, but on the other hand i liked it cuz it blocked the sun. When I first got my van it took a little while to get used to not having it...but I think I like it better this way anyway. Man... Im getting old! :)

We looked at one that didn't have any windows behind the drivers seat on the sides. I hated it. You couldn't see a damn thing.

But we're looking at some used full window ones. I didn't like the HHR that much, windshield is too small.

Yeah, the ones with the non windows in the back is called the Panels. They also have no seats in the back.... so its more of a work truck/car thing. But yeah... the hhr is small. Its good on gas, but thats about it. :)

>.> well I think that windows shouldn't be allowed to be tinted in the front. Some states are making it a law so you can't talk on your cell phone, then, you can't drink alcohol, and tinted windows make it all the more harder for this to be controlled. Also underage kids in the front seat and baby seats. I don't even see why tinted windows are necessary anyway, do you really need it so people can't see you?

I didnt get the tint so that people cant see me. My eyes are really sensitive...and I have my sunglasses on 24/7 if I am outside.
And the cant drink alcohol thing...meaning not drink and drive? I think thats a good one. :)
