this is an interesting topic to me...I'm just curious to see what everyone does to stay healthy. My little brother and my boyfriend for instance would eat fast food at every meal if they could, and never think twice about supersizing..or ordering 2 of something. And exercise is a foreign word to both of them. Me...well I try to eat healthy, at least 1 veggie a day. I eat a lot of lean cuisines and smart ones because I dont always have the time or energy to cook and popping something in the microwave is so much easier...but at least those are healthier than the stouffers or hungryman's. I also take my dog on a long walk twice a day. Hmm that's about it. I am wanting to get healthier though so I might change some things about my diet/exercise routine.

I love those Weight Watcher's, Lean Cuisine's, and Smart One's also. They are so much easier and less messy than cooking a big meal. But I still try to cook myself a nice meal at least once or twice a week. I also eat lots of whole grains and try for at least three to four servings of fruits and veggies a day. Five to seven is the RDA though. I also run at least 12 - 15 miles a week (my girlfriend does 40!) but I am trying to work my way up into the 20's. Plus, I like to do circuit training at least two or three times a week. Plus, I do push-ups and sit-ups and a few other abs routines every night. I don't drink alcohol or use any type of tobacco. I drink Coke's sparingly and try to drink mostly water and juices with the occasional cup of green tea.
I tell you what though, eating healthy can be rather costly. I live by myself and my grocery bill is around $75 every two weeks.

wow you've definitely got me beat. I really want to start running again, but where I live it is pretty much summer year round and I HATE going running in the heat. At night it's not as bad, but I live in the inner city and running by myself at night isn't safe at all...and my dog isn't much of a guard dog really lol. I might invest in a treadmill...or when we move hopefully it will be in a more suburban area that I can go outside at night and not have to watch my back. I don't drink sodas really at all, just water. Occasionally I'll have a diet coke but that's maybe once a week. My grocery bill for myself is about the same, but I say it's worth it. I do however have a weakness for some good beer, and drink about once a week or once every two weeks. And I smoke cigarettes. I'm going to quit here soon, but I need to stop talking about it and just do it. I have tapered back to about 3-4 cigs a day though...much better than my former pack a day.

I smoke around a pack/1.5 packs a day (although a lot of my cigs are given away to my coworkers), and in my line of work (I'm a tech and I drive to a customers location) so I'm on the road all day. I'm not about to have a lunch sittin in the truck for 4-6 hours before I eat it, so I typically will eat a lot of fast food. I do eat a lot of subway though. Does that count?

Right now I'm at home for lunch and I'm about to heat up some of my pizza from last night.

I get more exercise than I give myself credit for. Like today... I was on a ladder in the ceiling running two wires for a phone/data connection to a backroom.

I do yoga, and I get paid for it... instead of me paying for it. :D

it really depends on what you eat from subway...i know their meatball sandwich and their chicken parm sandwich have over 1000 calories in a footlong..so thats worse than most burgers!

I don't like either.

I'll usually get a BMT, spicy italian, or the pizza sub. I've tried a few others. I know it's not super healthy with salt, pepper and oil. But the amount of fat in a burger is waaaaaay more than 1000 calories.

Besides, I need a lot of calories anyway, if my metabolism could be stretched out, I could walk to the moon on it.

I have my indulgences too. I love Dove dark chocolates. I love Oreo's. My girlfriend is the one who's gotten me to start eating healthy.

my indulgence once every 2 weeks is a burrito from chipotle. i get rice, black beans, fajita steak meat, and cheese on it. its huge, i usually eat it over 2 meals. probably about 25g of fat in the whole thing. you should check out cocovia dark chocolate, its 100 calories per bar with only 6g of fat. not bad at all for freaking chocolate! i love it :)

i only do greasy fast food when ive been drinking... might as well load the calories form beer and the windmill all in one night..

i chase kids around all day.. which is more exercise then you think.. and i hit the gym 3-4 times per week.. i dont necessarily search for the healthiest food.. but i try to keep the junk down to a minimum.. which is hard around kids- cuz they eat shit all day long....
thanks.. now ya'll got me feeling guilty for eating the birthday cake remix before.... but god damn it was good...

...and i only got a small :/

I'm one of those people that other people hate... I'm vegetarian, and extremely conscious of what I eat (I'm lactose intolerant, so basically, I'm allllmost Vegan, just eggs), yet I smoke like a chimney. I don't do a lot of exercise, but my metabolism is pretty awesome.
So I'm health-conscious in a way that people look at me and say, "Yeah, okay... whatever."

i have a slight lactose intolerance, but i love cheese so i deal with it. i just cant eat anything really cheesey anymore like macaroni or alfredo sauce...never beena big milk drinker either so thats not really a problem. But ever since I started eating healthier I have a higher lactose intolerance. i limit myself to 1 oz of cheese in my food if it has any. If I drink a frappacino from starbucks or anything with heavy cream or a lot of cheese in it my stomach huuuuurts for hours. it sucks :( but i guess its healthier that I'm not eating it so much now. I wish I could be a vegetarian. The only meat I eat frequently is chicken and fish and sometimes ham. I wish i had your metabolism. mine sucks due to prior speed addiction.

I lost a ton of weight in late high school/early college, due to some interesting drug issues... but I got that all figured out with some (read: a lot of) help and gained pretty much all the weight back (very, very good thing).

I never really liked meat, and I have never eaten shellfish (as a kid, wasn't allowed to, and then never bothered), and we were always discouraged as children to eat a lot of meat. It says in the bible in Romans: "It is better not to eat meat or drink wine or to do anything else that will cause your brother to fall." That was pretty much drilled into my head, so a lot of childhood influences really affect my diet. I didn't like meat, and my mother said fine, if you don't eat in faith, you are offending God.

I don't really believe that anymore, but I'm so used to it and it's healthier anyway, so why stop?

I'm quite lactose intolerant. I get terrible, terrible cramps. I get soy milk in my coffee and everything.

I used to have a super high metabolism too. I could eat and eat and eat and not gain a pound. That stopped when I got in my mid-twenties.
