These are up already all over the cities and towns throughout the country. Do you think they are up too early or are you happy to see them in mid november?!

Have you decorated your home yet?

It's been this way for many years kaiuk. It's pure commercialisation but driven in the main by consumer requirements. Families, usually mother, start Christmas shopping far earlier now than they did many years ago so as to spread the financial outgoing. Couple that with the crowds in shops and malls on the week leading up to Christmas and it's understandable that people try to get as much done in the previous months as possible. I have friends at home who would start their Christmas shopping on the Boxing Day Sales of the previous Christmas. Stores put up their decorations to try and give the customers that "shopping for Christmas" feeling and and spend rather more than they otherwise would.

Well, I guess with the logistics involved Town Halls and home owners must prepare the infrastuctures in advance so to be ready during the Advent. It does feel kinda early, but it doesn't bother me.
This video has been around for years and gone over the 10 million viewers mark, but still cracks me up everytime this time of year:

I usually start decorating right after halloween lol (I'm in Canada.. Christmas is next for us). This is the first year in a while that hasn't been the case.. but we had something awful happen the day we were going to get started and it's been sort of "meh" around here since.

I love seeing it. The earlier the better. Life is too fast paced and moody all around me and not enough people appreciating.. I love what Christmas means (my lowly Atheist version of it lol). What I don't like about this time of year is the people complaining about any aspect of it. Even the commercialism.

I put some of my Christmas lights up - the red, white and blue ones - for Veteran's Day. The rest of the stuff goes up much later, generally around the first week in December. People are going to do what they are going to do with their decorations. I don't put a lot of stuff up so I don't need to start super early.

We chose to not decorate at all last year. If I had my choice I would do the same this year. I have been informed otherwise. Not looking forward to dragging everything out of the attic. Only to drag it back up in a few weeks. Just call me Ebeneezer.

We already have our tree up, and some other decorations. I am refraining from decorating from the outside of the house because, a) we are renting and the house looks a little run-down and there is nothing on the outside I would really want to highlight, and b) we purposely bought led lights for the Christmas tree in order to save money, thus putting the regular lights we still have up would kind of would fly in the face of buying the led's in the first place.

Don't get me wrong, I love Christmas as it is one of my favorite holidays and love decorating (moreso than my wife ;)), but this year we really need to find ways to cut down on costs.

I like Christmas decorations, and I like to see people decorate their house and yard every time I drive by at night. I just like the feel of holiday atmosphere. I don't think it is too early to have Christmas decorations on on mid November. I don't usually decorate for Christmas, but I am thinking about it next year.

I would think that because you are having company over and a gathering that you want your house to be decorated. Thanksgiving is not really a lights and decorations holiday so I can understand why someone would have their Christmas decorations up. It's all a part of the happy holidays idea about celebrating things.

I put mine up usually the first weekend in December and usually take them down at the end of the first week in January. I love decorating for Christmas and do a lot both inside and out.

I have a really small flat and my kids are growing so we have less space every year. Mid December we use to put up a small xmas tree and a santa claus in the window, but it's not there just yet. :)

I love Christmas, and I love all of the decorations. But we don't start putting them out until December. Earlier I was annoyed with all of the Christmas stuff, but now it excites me! I'm definitely in the shopping/planning mood!

Christmas tree goes up on December 17th, and gets taken down on January 9th.

Two candle lights in the house, as you can't see our house from the primary road anyways lol

Every place and every people had their own ways and beliefs on how they will prepare their Christmas decorations. In my own native country the people there when the start of what you called the "ber" month is starting as early as September they are already placing Christmas decorations at home. school, commercial establishments, offices etc. In fact you can also hear the Christmas songs being played all around. While now here in the country where I am currently living they do not put much emphasis on the Christmas decorations and so that is what I observed.

I honestly don't care when people put them up or take them down - it's their house, they can do what they want to. I don't think others should judge them for it, seems a bit petty and ridiculous.

I quite like being able to drive around at night looking at lights and decorations in my warm car when it's cold out and there's nothing else to do.

I do have to say some people go a bit overboard on the decoration of their houses. They will start in November to completely transform the front yard and house into some sort of wonderland. I do, however, like when they take the time to synchronize the whole thing to music. I have even seen where two neighbors got together and coordinated their displays to be synchronized together.

The only drawback to that is you suddenly have a traffic jam in your neighborhood, which I am sure does not endear them to their other neighbors.

We already have our Christmas trees up, yes, that's right trees plural. My kids insist on having one in each of their rooms. ;) I haven't put any of our outdoor decorations up yet though. I see some of my neighbors put theirs up yesterday.
