If everyone who would have bought gas on the 15th just buys it one day before or after, how does anyone lose any money?

If people really do want to have an effect, the way to go would be carpooling and/or using public transportation wherever possible. I know that I am sometimes guilty of driving into work instead of taking the subway just because it's quicker/easier.
governments should triple the tax on gasoline
i have not owned a car in 10 years, if i need to drive i rent and am prepared to pay whatever ti takes, i think if more people got rid of their cars in facour of bicycles/public transport we would all benefit, maybe making gas so expensive that it becomes a luxury is the only way to go
unless you live in an area where public transportation does not exist (like where i live)
