Those who believe that they "tell it like it is" are mistaken. The reality is that they often tell it the way they percieve it to be. Much of how life is isn't fact, but rather opinion, after all.

Also, these types think they tell it like it is because they don't see where people who disagree with them are coming from.

We're all entitled to our opinions, including people who think they "tell it like it is." But those with differing opinions on certain matters often have legitimate reasons for disagreeing with you as well.

People have the right to strongly believe in certain things. But some people strongly believe in what they believe in about nearly everything.

It seems, when someone says "hey, just telling it like it is", they're not stating facts. Facts are different, I think.

I find 'telling like it is' often means 'I'm a bitch, but I still want people to like me, so I'll pretend that my nasty attitude is actually a positive thing'.

That's what I came in here to say, dammit!!! :24: Yeah usually "I just say what I think and don't hold back" means "I have a horrible personality and am a cranky bastard, but everybody else is the problem, not me." :24:

I've always maintained...I would prefer to be thought of as a bitch than a "brown noser" or 'crowd pleaser".;)

At least then I can honestly say my opinions/thoughts are my own and not just echoing the "popular" ones:)

I don't think there's no problem with expressing your opinion. I usually speak what I believe rather than just agree with everyone.

BUT

I think the main thing is that you can express yourself while at the same time being courteous and filtering what you say.

Yeah, I agree. You can be honest about your opinions and still be polite - some people seem to take openness as meaning they can be as rude as they like and they're just 'expressing themselves'.

What's worse is when someone's being a dick, they get called on it and they say 'I'm just being honest'. Well sure, but there's such a thing as being tactful as well :p

As long as they don't push their opinions as ultimate truths, I don't care what/how people say anything. "That's how I see it" is fairer than "Just telling it like it is!".

:ninja that's how I see it, at least

But what do you all really feel? Tell me your thoughts! I want your opinions! Could you please share? Lay it on me! Sock it to me! :sarcasm
