bow-tie snooker

i love ken, he's just brill,
and this recent snooker row, is making me ill.
its petty and silly and drags snooker through the mud,
this could have so easily been solved, and nipped in the bud.
wenbo and junhui played Ireland's brightest hope,
but what went wrong, ken felt it was as bad as a test for dope.
so what was it that caused all the fuss,
wearing no bow-tie, ken said was a unfair plus.
the Joe has to agree, because the rules were obstructed,
snooker is a profession, only top class conducted.
ken as a big fan i am on your side,
because any slip in standards is a snooker divide.
snooker is the best ever sport,
as for the bow-tie dispute, its got to stay is my report.

(the joe loves this sport - as for the bow-tie row - i think they should all have to wear it )

I don't see it as a major issue. Sure it's nice to have tradition but I also think that them wearing/not wearing bow-ties doesn't detract from the enjoyment I get from watching it. Yeah I enjoy watching snooker, it doesn't look that exciting from an outside perspective but it's a very patient sport which I think can create moments of excitement.

Who cares what they wear or their public image, it's all about how they play the game. Alex Higgins would come out dressed like a tramp, chain smoking fags and drinking pint after pint but he still was one of the biggest entertainers the game has ever had.

Nah, billiards is another different cue sport. Don't think the USA have ever really got into snooker, sure there's been one or two pro players from there but no one major. Canada have had one or two good players years ago, world champion Cliff Thorburn and Kirk Stevens comes to mind.

Ah you learn something new every day. I know Australia went snooker crazy when Robertson won the World Championships in 2010, perhaps it might only take that to get them interested.

Take a lot of hard work though. Robertson had to come over to England to make it in the sport and even then, he had a real struggle getting funding ect.

When you see a thread about snooker, the simple concept that most people assume is that it is about snooker, not some internet gimmick and a middle aged woman flirting with each other. If wasteofspace could just call these threads, "Sadie, I've Got A Hard On For You" it would make things much clearer. :thumbup
