What is the weirdest, most exotic, or just strange food you have eaten?

Re: Strangest thing you ever ate.

Pretty much my philosophy...although, if its something that sounds SUPER gross; dont tell me what it is until AFTER I try it...

eg..bulls balls....spiders etc.

I usually ask because i don't want to wonder what it is. That way i know i can avoid it. :ninja

Re: Strangest thing you ever ate.

Are you trying to scare me away from the place you recommended? :D

We don't use crazy weird things on our menu, though we do tend to lean toward less-common ingredients. Using arugula and frisee for salads instead of lettuces is one thing, but it doesn't cross into the "what the fuck am I eating" category.

Well thats a relief. My in-laws are gonna meet us in ATL. They are pretty simple, their idea of dinner out at a fancy restaurant is a trip to Ryans. I shit you not. Feel free to facepalm as you read that :24:

My place may not be the best choice, then. But, my companies other restaurant might be a good way to impress. It's Southern food in a fancier-schmancier environment.

Or your place might give me a good excuse to get the fuck away from them. I'm meeting up with an old friend from high school who is an ATL local now. Maybe we will swing by.

A very poisonous puffer fish in a Singapore restaraunt. Ate it raw.

It actually tasted like a rubbery form of cum.

Sake is an awesome thing. The shit you would never touch when you were sober is astounding. 5un48j.jpg

Re: Strangest thing you ever ate.

 Good job, you tried something new :p I heard some Chinese places- use cat or rat meat :yuk in replacement of chicken. So there you go- there's something strange that you ate ? :D :p

:mad tell me thats just an urban legend........

please :(

It's probably only the non-chain resturants that are REALLY cheap!
The chain ones are getting profit! So it would be naive for them to do that. Ya i think it is an urban legend!
:D

That might be true of smaller chain restaurants to be able to use rat/cat meat as a substitute for chicken. If maybe FDA is not involved in monitoring these restaurants :p I've seen vids in China showing rats used as such. But then again, who knows in the US if the Chinese restaurant owners might be sneaky to use rats or cat meat eh to save money :dunno:

I've had someone let me try fried 1 day old chick - complete with it's fine feathers and beak, feet etc which was dipped in spicy vinegar :eek That smelt stinky too when being fried and my friends love the smell :ninja However, just that 1 attempt of a small bite initially made me gag and spit it out as fast as I can ! So NO, I'll never try it again :yuk

I don't like duck, either. It's too greasy. :yuk

I heard duck is the healthiest dark meat better than chicken ;)

If it's just the greasiness, you don't like- have you tried Peking duck? Prep wise depends on some restaurants, they steam it and one can actually request it skinless. This is one of China's famous delicacies :)

I wonder how they make the puffer fish edible given that it's very poisonous? :ninja ;)

Sake: Yup, one of the best tasting rice wine  It's sweet and you dont realize you've had so much as the intoxicating after effect is very slow :p Have you tried the special type of sake that is $75-125 per shot? That can knock you out in that 1 shot :D

I think the strangest thing for me is snails. They were ok, covered in a garlic sauce so really thats all you could taste.
I used to eat ostrich regularly, I don't find it strange but some people do. Its delicious

I LOVE Peking duck tooyumyum.gifVery tasty indeed and less greasy especially when you eat it with that rice bun and wrap it like Pita :D
