....with your long-term girlfriend unless you intend to propose, fellas.

Okay, so I'm half-joking :ninja I'm sure loads of couples go to Paris and don't get engaged. But my sister went to Paris last year with her (now ex) boyfriend of three years and was bombarded with texts and questions when she got back about whether he'd popped the question. Which he hadn't. And a friend of mine on another site got me thinking about this because she just related a story about an ex who did exactly the same, took her to Paris, up the Eiffel Tower and everything, and didn't propose.

Now I'm not saying if you take your girlfriend to Paris, you have to propose. But I think guys need to be aware - if you do take your long-term woman there, she will be wondering. And even if she isn't, all her female friends and relations will :24:

Ladies, would you have that thought in the back of your mind if this happened to you? It's such a huge cliche, it's almost unavoidable to not at least make a joke about it :p and guys, would you take your girl on a romantic trip to a well known proposal spot with no intention to propose there?

I didn't know this was a cliché...

I guess you can quash this cliché by going to Paris but only visiting war museums and the catacombs :thumbup

The streets of Paris are full of dog shit where rude old French biddies insist on letting their dogs go where they please. It really isn't the most romantic city!

I don't care for the people of France all that much. Me, I'd rather go to Italy. But as for proposals, my first hubby didn't even propose just sort of started talking about where we would go on the honeymoon.

Joe he took me to a 4 star hotel and did it right. Of course we broke up after a year...LOL, But then the second time he romantically said he knew me being married was important to me and it wasn't to him so why not?

Aw heart be still, such romantic guys I fall for ;)

LOL that sweetheart :p

I'm hoping I get a proper on-one-knee proposal. I don't mind if he doesn't buy a ring though because I wear pretty much zero jewelry, so he'd have to be a psychic to get the size/style right.

Is France really nasty?! I've been to St Malo, which is a little coastal town and that's lovely, really picturesque, but I've never been to the main cities.

I wood if I thought I could get extra chances to saw off a few hunks. :D It's kinda like going into a church with your s/o. Just because you do doesn't mean you're getting married if you know what I mean. There's lot's of reasons to walk into a church.

I think I've been to church for more funerals than weddings :(

See.. I told you there was more than one reason. My point was... girls dream too much. :24:

It's all those damn Brides magazines! I was planning my wedding when I was eight years old. The little boy down the block was having no part of it though. However.... when we hit junior high.... he wanted to 'practice'. Pffffftttttt..... Good thing I stuck to my guns about a ring on my finger.
